@Mayonaisepot Eh, I didn't find it as bad as you did. Maybe it's just because I'm in need of a foil to the seriousness that is The Newsroom, and this show is perfect for that. It's only 6 episodes in what is a pretty slow summer for TV, so I'll keep watching to the end and see what's what, but to each their own I suppose.
@az25 Honestly, Sigourney Weaver her acting is terrible in this series... Check the episode of this week, the scenes where she is playing the first lady who got cheated on. It's simply terrible. I refer to the scene at 26:30.
Also, 16:40 "It makes me so sick, Douglas, so sick I could puke for days". You can't call that "solid" acting.
@Mayonaisepot I thought this was significantly smoother than the pilot. The pilot felt way too ... pilot-y, if you know what I mean. It just seemed like everyone wasn't quite comfortable with the characters. I think how it feels like a soap is a good thing though, for a 6 episode mini-series especially. I, for one, am going to keep watching it because Sigourney Weaver is very solid and the Irish actor playing Bud Hammond is outrageous, in a good way.
I can see this getting better as it continues. It is a summer show after all, I'm glad it's not taking itself too serious. It's also a great opposite to The Newsroom, which while I love Sorkin, can be WAY too lecturing and too many long-winded speeches.
edit: I forgot about Carla Gugino (journalist), not only is she hot, but she's also a great actor
Nothing special. Both the pilot and the second episode sucked, doubt anything good is going to come from this.
