@camiciacoibaffi I hope so too. Otherwise Vinny is just another lousy stereotype. Nothing wrong with well executed stereotypes in comedy, but if Vinny is just another shouting, pasta eating Italian, it's nothing new, and he'll suck as a main character.

@Lordindo True, but I do think they've thought this through. I'm curious to see what they're gonna do to even keep te casual fans happy.

@Artifex I really hope you're right about Vinnie, but Siriaco's accent wasn't in any way subtle and they immediately had him going for "fallen out of a truck" joke, so I was totally unimpressed

@Artifex I do understand what you mean. But the biggest problem is, that the average fan of Family Guy isn't looking for something new. They are just wanting to watch what they can expect from the show. That is why I think a big change like this could have some negative consequences.

@Kompaan @Jeroenvanee is right, it was in a press conference. Guess we just gotta be patient and wait for the next episode to be great ;)

Right, here's my opinion:
I get why they killed off a main character. The series is old, and needs something new. And, if I had to choose one of the 6 main characters to remove, it would've been Brian. Brian added a lot to other characters, particularly Stewie, but Brian on his own was getting very, very predictable.

Now personally I would've gone for a cat or other kind of animal, because that would've freshened up the show even more. Instead, they've chosen another dog. And one with an Italian accent, even. Family Guy, American Dad and the Cleveland Show have been making jokes about Italians for years, so why they've chosen that nationality for a new character isn't clear to me at all. It just limits the available jokes already.

Then again, Vinnie doesn't have a very heavy accent and doesn't look like an italian stereotype, so maybe the jokes aren't going to be about him being Italian.

All in all: Good to see some change, but not sure if this is the right new blood.

@Kompaan @Ties93 there was a pressconfo before the start of season 12 announcing one of the main characters would die, they also said: Trust us on this one, we know what were doing.

Vinnie 'Walnuts' :D But I doubt he'll be a good replacement for Brian, we'll see..

Vinnie can't replace Brian, Vinnie is a lousy character and i'm tired of him already.
