If USA's defence was not as porous and open like that, then perhaps Tim Howard wouldn't have to work as hard. Most of the time, only Tim Howard (plus 2 or 3 defenders) are guarding the goalpost. Compare it to Belgium's defence where they have at least 6 people guarding their goalpost at all times.

Don't get me wrong though, Tim Howard was undeniably the man of the match. He worked much more than all his teammates combined: 16 saves total! It is the highest number of saves in the last 50 years of World Cup (or perhaps of all time? Various news reports say different things).

If the USA team had more people in the back helping out Howard, then perhaps USA would have a chance. But oh well, I hope they'd learn from this.

Anyway, congrats for Belgium!

Finally the Belgians played a good game, deserved win no doubt. That spirit from the US team though, Howard is sick (he's fucking 35 years old, Jesus).
