This show just keeps getting worse... First we had the beyond stupid "crisis" when TK couldn't handle dip into icewater (even though a preteen boy could survive it without any issue or protective gear) and then they killed off Gwyn for forced shock/grief effect. There was literally zero reason to kill her, she had already left the show so it's all been just grief-milking.
And this pet thing is just a cherry of disgusting on top of it all, bring a bird in just so Owen could get some "closure" by neglecting the poor pet bird which then promptly dies as well, just so the writers don't have to deal with the idea that maybe Owen would have a pet...
