Wow, the Klingons changed quite a bit since then!
EDIT: apparantly they didn't change after this time period, there were just different kinds of Klingon do to some kind of disease caused by war or something, it's never that well explained in any episodes of later Star Treks, but some dialogues do try to explain it. Ofcourse, the Star Trek wiki has all the answers.
