Aside from their love of basketball, Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) have very little in common, but their shared father will forever connect their lives in ways they could never imagine. Their father, Dan Scott (Paul Johansson), abandoned Lucas and chose to raise Nathan in his image -- a life of luxury and basketball that molded him into the star of the Tree Hill Ravens basketball team that he has become. Lucas was raised by his single mother, Karen Roe (Moira Kelly), with help from his uncle, Keith Scott (Craig Sheffer). He kept his distance from Nathan, but his love of basketball led their worlds to collide when the Ravens' coach, Whitey Durham (Barry Corbin), put Lucas on the team. As the brothers take the court, side-by-side, Lucas and Nathan struggle to come to terms with the past that has haunted both boys their entire life. However, though basketball, and the slow road to discovering themselves, Lucas and Nathan soon find that they have more in common than they could have ever imagined.

@prince
I couldn't agree more. I just finished season 8 and it felt like a series finale. On top of that, it is starting to go back to being superficial, plugging too much music, and having things go right too often for the characters. It is getting back to the formula that didn't work for them in the past.
Season 9 is really not necessary, they could have ended the show at the end season 8.
Renewed:

Still watching it... Seasons 5 & 6 weren't really good. But the pace picked up in season 7 with soms new additions to the cast and some older ones that dissapeared.
But the first 4 seasons were REALLY good... Planning to rewatch these at some point in my life. But it'll be strange to see Nate as a prick again in the first season :)
anybody still watches this? I gave up about 10 episodes ago..
One Tree Hill, a show that had a good debut. The first 4 seasons were brought a new angle on the typical high school drama. Unfortunately the show went straight downhill from there... The following seasons just tackle the same dysfunctional issues in what has become the land of fairy tails. In these seasons it seems that the narrative has been taken directly from the dreams of a 14 years old girl. The recycling and addition of new cast does little to attenuate this aftertaste of déjà vu.
All in all I would give the show a 4 stars rating for the initial high school years, and a 2 stars for the rest.
@PFXX How and why?
shame on you guys!
