When the Cardassian occupation of Bajor ended in 2369, the mining space-station Terok Nor was left abandoned, its systems ripped out. By invitation of the provisional Bajoran government, Starfleet stepped in to oversee the rebuilding and day-to-day operations of the newly christened Deep Space Nine. DS9 soon became a center of travel and commerce thanks to a newly found stable wormhole leading to the largely unexplored Gamma Quadrant.

It's hard to choose between TNG and DS9 but after yet another rewatch, I can say this is my favorite Star Trek show.

Awesome show! It starts off kinda slow & weird maybe, but every season is better than the last...
And some of the episodes are perfect examples of what Science Fiction should be about!

I'm watching on and off for about a year now. Not my cup of tea. Star Trek ToS was amazing, and I finished it in 1 or 2 months, including the Animated Series. After that I watched TNG, which was also amazing and I finished it quite quickly.
But DS9 just really isn't my thing. It's much less Star Trekky to me. I'm all for dark, moody futures, but Star Trek isn't about that (not to me). But what I dislike most is the fact that they stay in that goddamn station all the time. I like the exploring element, the discovery.
That said, the characters are amazing and all very memorable and likeable. I just don't like the setting very much.
I started watching DS9 about a week ago, I'm on S7, and this s*** is amazing! I thought I wouldn't like it as much as TNG, but it's much better IMO.
The best of the Star Trek series IMO, dark and moody at times, it was very different from its predecessors TOS and TNG.
