Welcome to the Hamptons, a glittering world of incredible wealth and privilege, where smiles hide secrets - and nothing is colder than revenge.
It's easy to see why the Hamptons are so exclusive. But no matter how guarded they are, they can't keep the truth out forever. Meet Emily Thorne (Emily Van Camp), a sexy beauty hell-bent on a mission of revenge. When she moves in, everyone wonders about the new girl, but she knows everything about them, including who they are and what they did to her family. Years ago, they took everything from her. Now, one by one, she's going to make them pay. When it comes to revenge, money is no object, because only an eye for an eye will ever make things right. Emily's main target is Victoria (Madeleine Stowe), a powerful and cunning woman who holds the key to Emily's past ... and perhaps her future. As we flash back and forth between the past and the present, Emily tries to ignore ties to her old life. Whatever the danger, Emily refuses to be distracted from her mission. When everything you love has been taken, revenge is all you have left.

I love the plotting and the scheming, and how the romance is entangled with it

I'm not sure exactly what I expected this to be. I think I got an impression of a really "cookie-cutter" romantic /family drama or something. It's not that. *At all*. It was described to me as [being similar to] "The Count of Monte Cristo" and it was well-described. From my experience it's actually a fairly unique show, at least the central premise. I thought it started off strong, so if you don't like the first few episodes it's probably not your thing- It actually slows down a little bit. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt it. I plowed through every ep thus far in two days. Give it a try, even if it might not seem like your sort of show (men?)
@Aversie that's what I was thinking while watching ep2. not sure how I managed to finish it. took me 2 hours.
I had to pause it to surf internet to get through how boring revenge is. what's up with all the intensive stares? stare, fake smile, stare more. ugh. nothing happens.
Really boring. Had to quit in the middle of episode 2. Suprised i got past episode 1... Nothing really happens. Fancy party's. Crazy sports with horses. Just some rich people hanging. Boring.
Liked the pilot alot, way over expectation.
OMG The pilot was AWESOME! I can't wait for episode 2...
