Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones

Seven noble families fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Political and sexual intrigue abound. The primary families are the Stark, Lannister, and Baratheon families. Robert Baratheon, King of Westeros, asks his old friend Eddard Stark to serve as his chief advisor. Eddard, suspecting that his predecessor had been murdered, accepts so that he can investigate further. It turns out more than one family is plotting to take the throne. The Queen's family, the Lannisters, may be hatching an incestuous plot to take control. Across the sea, the last surviving members of the previously deposed ruling family, the Targaryens, are also plotting a return to power. The conflict between these families and others, including the Greyjoys, the Tullys, the Arryns, and the Tyrells, leads to war. Meanwhile, in the north, an ancient evil awakens. Amidst war and the political confusion, a brotherhood of misfits, The Night's Watch, is all that stands between the realms of men and the horrors beyond.

@Mitholas don't be such a little girl

Enjoi (May 28, 2012)

Loving every minute of this serie

Mitholas (May 24, 2012)

@az25 One episode of that boys club and I already knew what we were in for. Never really bothered again. It doesn't help that the only people I know who like it are boneheads.

I didn't say GoT was necessarily sexist though. But let's not get started on that topic.

az25 (May 24, 2012)

damn dude, at least give the guy who defended you the courtesy and not show him up with your very next comment. yeesh. that's one notch too far.

kasseikerel (May 24, 2012)

@Mitholas It wasn't sexism. Period.

Unless it was about her period.

az25 (May 22, 2012)

@Mitholas You should watch Entourage, my friend.

Mitholas (May 22, 2012)

@Tante Thank you, that was my point exactly.

@kasseikerel @az25 The comment reduced a character to her naked physical appearance. It's sexist, and I can't say I think there's ever a wrong time or place to point that out.

kasseikerel (May 22, 2012)

@az25 You're absolutely right. Thanks.
Now can we get back on topic?

az25 (May 22, 2012)

@Tante @Mitholas He was joking! Come on, people, don't take things so seriously, especially here.

@kasseikerel There was no real need to defend yourself so heavily.

And to all of you, if you have a serious issue with sexism locally, deal with it locally. This isn't a shoutbox to discuss the issues of sexism. This isn't the place to jump on people for a statement that was CLEARLY meant to be funny. If you don't find it funny, fine. But bite your tongue, and move on, don't respond with something silly like a feminism 101 site. He's not advocating that women aren't as good as men or anything like that, so come off of it. There are places in real life that you can send a letter too if, like i said, you have issues with sexism in real life. THIS IS NOT THE FORUM FOR IT.

kasseikerel (May 22, 2012)

@Tante First of all: it's not sexism. My statement wasn't discriminating, nor had it something to do with power. Unless you read my mind better than myself and explain the sexism behind my sentence, you should look up the definition of sexism on that blog of yours. My sentence could only be an ironical pun on possible sexism in the show. Secondly, I wasn't attacking, but defending. As if I would only be out to see naked people, if I say Emilia Clarke has a beautiful body in an indirect way. If he or she thinks there is too much nudity in this show, that's their opinion. They don't say anything about too much violence, though.

Tante (May 18, 2012)

@kasseikerel If your first statement really was that 'obviously not intended to be shameless horndogging', then why did Mitholas miss that point? I, myself, just rolled my eyes at said first statement from your side and thought I should not waste my time, but replying to Mitholas' comments in a way that suggest he can't take a joke is just a variety of the infamous 'its not sexism if its funny' arguments... which, just in case you didn't know, are simply invalid. Don't attack someone for a) being unable to read your mind and b) pointing out sexism.
Just leaving this here in case you are wondering what the fuss is about.

kasseikerel (May 17, 2012)

@Mitholas I find your lack of humour rather disturbing. I love Game of Thrones and Emilia Clarke is, apart from being a good actress, also very pleasing to the eye. My previous post was merely a humourous critic on how they introduced her in the first season, and was obviously not intended to be 'shameless horndogging'. If you're offended by this, I advise you not to take these posts so serious in the future. I don't feel the need to clarify my statements again.

Mitholas (May 17, 2012)

@kasseikerel If you're only out to see naked people, go watch porn. Game of Thrones is still delivering great quality television and there is an abundance of female nudity as is. In fact, that might be the only point the show can be criticized on.

kasseikerel (May 17, 2012)
