Looking forward to in the winter/spring anime seasons so far?

I'm looking forward to Kyoukai no Rinne 2 in the Spring, and Ansatsu Kyoushitsu/Durararax2 Ketsu . . . both of which I'd expect to bleed into Spring like last year . . . for Winter. Oh, and Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2 as well, assuming it's any good. It didn't really need a season 2, honestly, it needed all the irrelevant plot points from season 1 just cut out or to be a movie -- but I think I did that rant already.

FF XIV has taken a month from me in both the past two Julys n.n. It was WoW before that all but one year (which was given to E.V.E) I only give myself 1 month of MMOs a year tho. 1: I've basically had my fill by then 2: Would keep playing during all my free time anyway if I didn't stop myself 3: I wouldn't actually be enjoying that extra time spent on the game so, best to just move on. 4: yearly expanded content, new stuff to do when I get back to a game n.n.

@emonquente Hey There!

Im on a break for the moment.. Started to play GW2 again and cant really share my focus on playing and watching like I used to.. Getting older damn :<.
I used to read on the train (20ish min until workplace) but dropped that too :<.

Good thing tho I finished Battlestar Galactica, and really enjoyed it! Then watched 8 min of Caprica and meh didn't like it that much xD maybe im just too manly :<

So for now im watching According to Jim/Angel when I feel like to. Few episode now and then!

Yeah, between anime and all my dramas coming back. . . reading kinda doesn't happen during the fall. I just realized I haven't ready anything like, the entire month of October.

emonquente (Oct 18, 2015)

So far I'm dropping Shomin Sample and K: Return of Kings

Anything that wasn't on my list of stuff I at least tried that I should try?

Overlord -- Thing about Overlord is that it is NOT an MMORPG anime. Like Log Horizon which recently had them going to the actual world of the game, in a new reality, so does Overlord. Moreover, 'how do we log out' is not a question at all. This is more like the 'fish out of water' genre than the MMORPG one.

Overlord is really quite simple, MC was part of a guild (a max level one that was around for a long time) and the only one still around for the final day, and because he stayed when the game went down he got magicked, not to the world of the game (Yggdrasil) but to some new world that follows very similar, shall we say, 'physics'. It is about him trying to set up a forward operating camp and hopefully run into some people he knew, and maybe take over the world -- Okay, just watched the last episode in the middle of this, if Overlord gets renewed I don't think I'll be watching it. Overlord seems now to be yet another anime with a good premise, but no real forethought to what to do with it. It doesn't really matter if that's actually true, or just feels that way because the thing is so heavily influenced by the 'drag it out as much as possible' of serialization. I mean, the talking in the Shalltear battle was just...oh dear lord -- there's nothing wrong with just showing two people fighting and what happens for heaven's sake, 5 minutes is the most you need for even an important fight, and an entire episode only justified by the big boss. Two for a fight that has the singular point of "Hey, there's some power out there you might need to pay attention to Ains old friend" and basically two that set it up before that. . . what the hell? No, that is rubbish pacing. The whole season was spent paint ridiculously broad setting strokes, only hinting that there might eventually be an enemy.

Overlord is just a Shonen Battler in too many respects, and since the main draw was the opportunity for a really detailed and interesting story, that ruins it entirely.

@Momo I succeeded in watching more than 90% of new seasons for the past three, but this season doesn't look too good, that said, do tell me if something turns out to be good that isn't in the list of what I'm even gonna give a chance.

I quite liked 'the annoying girl' from Gakkou Gurashi, and the ending bothered me not for what it did do, but entirely because it was a 100% open ending. The thing is tho, it, at least, has an excuse for that ending -- The girls just have to keep living in the end of the world. The only non-open way TO end that show would have been to kill everyone (which, sadly, would have been a better ending, and said the same things the anime was trying to much stronger. . . but damn that woulda been sad).

GATE --- I love the MC and the demigod, just watching them do whatever is what keeps me watching.

Yeah, Rokka was just plain annoying the way it's given itself to 'tell the same story on repeat until you get cancelled' so, so many anime fall into.

Akagami no Shirayuki was everything I wanted it to be, a meandering little love story based off a 'meet cute' -- but to be honest, it would have been much, much better as a movie than a season of anime. It has way too many unnecessary plot elements, and even if it gets a second season to use them that's just more unnecessary, not a fix. But it was cute, and I am happy enough with it.

@emonquente O.o you write quite a lot xD I like it!!

I agree with you about anime endings.. sometimes they just leave them open and you never know if its going to be a sequel or it was just planned in that way.

Last episode of Gakkou Gurashi was kinda rushed for me, it was love/hate for the whole time.. MC was so annoying :(
I enjoy watching horror series/anime and you always find a pet in it.. which will always die in horrible ways, and I will always cry like a fountain when it happens. (I did my best when he died at the end, but when annoying girl said: he did say something, he said thank you... well, save yourselves because I was crying like a baby :()

I was suprised about GATE, really loved the MC (I think I mostly watched for him) plot is ok, name are really bad bad bad bad (pina colada? really???) but enjoyed it alot!

I've to be honest, Akagami no Shirayuki also made me cry a bit, enjoyed the soft plot and didn't expect much from it.

Wakako Zake and Wakaba Girl were really surprising, short and funny, maybe even little bit stupid about some arguments.

The Nono of this season for me were Rokka for sure, I expected way more, and the end.. omg the end.. do we have to do it again? Really? Even if I'm the strongest woman in the world I don't think I can stand it!
Overlord -- can someone please explain me what happened? Today will be last episode and really hope I can understand what the frak happened there.. I kinda regret not dropping it sooner, but everyone was talking so good about it, had to give at least a chance.. Compared to other two mmorpg anime this was the worst :/

So my top 3 will be:

1. Charlotte
2. Gate
3. Gangsta (need to watch last episode)

ehm... I have a huge following list xD I kinda have a fixation at this time... I want to see all the anime and series (kinda mission impossible but I will try my best!)

Let\s have a look thru what's coming for fall (just going off the anichart page):

Yuru Yuri San☆Hai! -- Season 3, I really do love this show.
Comet Lucifer -- Watch that preview o.o, I'm on board.
Ooooh -- Noragami's back. Yay.
Owarimonogatari -- Oh hell yeah.
Kowabon -- Gotta respect the idea of a rotoscoped horror animation n.n.

I'm pretty meh on it but I'll try ---- Gakusen Toshi Asterisk -- Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?? -- Kamisama Minarai: Himitsu no Cocotama -- K: Return of Kings --Hidan no Aria AA --- Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider

I hate myself but I have to give a chance to --
Ore ga Ojousama Gakkou ni "Shomin Sample" Toshite Gets♥Sareta Ken (dear god that name is unwieldly, the english isn't any better either) -- Shinmai Maou no Testament Burst (I liked the first season too, I know, I'm awful >.<)

Just going off the thumbnail -- Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru

Annnd, that's it o.o. . .. 13? On the one had, much more manageable number to follow. On the other, I watched like what was it, 40 something shows last season? Then again, summer probably had way more.

Now, belated recommendations (compares with your 'following' page)
*coughs* SO umm. . .. Apart from anime you've dropped that I didn't in the past three seasons, I haven't even seen anything you haven't. And I honestly can't recommend you pick back up anything you dropped.

You've already seen all the things I could suggest, sorry :P

But you seem to have an awful lot of stuff I haven't seen. . . when it stops being hot outside I'll have to watch some of them.

emonquente
emonquente (Sep 29, 2015)

Charlotte was really quite good, and I'm just so, so thankful to watch an anime that has a bloody ending for once. All I want is an ending XD.

Yuru Yuri got two episodes (nachuyachumi plus) and they're always good.

Non Non Biyori Repeat is suuuuper cute. Real, tru, slice of life -- entirely plotless and with confidence, it never pretends to have a plot, and I never miss it, because it isn't about telling a narrative, it's about showing some kids' childhoods. It's awesome.

Denpa Kyoushi got a decent ending actually, and I still think it's worth getting over it's absolutely terrible animation, deliberate slowness to save money, and other pretty obvious problems. . . but I might just personally really like the characters and be unfairly patient with it.

Ranpo Kidan Game of Laplace was hugely disappointing, but the ending song is worth a listen. Overlord was kinda disappointing but the opening song is somewhat good (a little chuuni) and adds a definite weight to things, the last episode has not aired just yet, and that's really gonna determine if I consider this something loved or not. Rokka no Yuusha was pretty disappointing too.

Gakkou Gurashi -- The last episode was lacking somehow, every episode before it is better than Charlotte, but because of the ending I think Charlotte is the better show overall.

Durarara X2 Ten - two 25 episode seasons and still going pretty strong, I gotta admit that I kinda lose track of what's going on exactly (understand fully the whys of it all) but hey.

Akagami no Shirayuki - Decent romance with a reasonably satisfying ending, but mostly, I just like the main character.

SO yeah, for summer 2015:

1: Charlotte
2: Non Non Biyori Repeat
3: Gaakou Gurashi

EDIT: Ore Monogatari placed for Spring, not summer, just so you know I didn't forget it.

Great! Was worried you left us for books! ç_ç

I found a new source for anime and I went crazy.. too many anime I've missed... but noticed also most of them were ecchi.. not rearlly what I'm into, but there are some exceptions.

Do you have any suggestions? I will look for them to update my library and then sort out a new way to watch everything w/o falling behind with the new season ;)

Ore Monogatari, danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai ken, Hello Kiniro Mosaic, DanMachi, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu and Hibike Euphonium, basically in that order.

Honorable mention to Fate Stay Night for straightening out its plot this time.

@emonquente Which one is your favourite for now? I'll stick with Ore Monogatari and Hibike :)

Well, we're a quarter into the season, I dropped 13, moved 10 into the slow lane, probably finish them up at some point when they finish, and picked 12 to actually keep up with properly.

I feel better.

Hello, saw you added me as a friend!

I thought I had watched a lot of series, but you've got me beat, haha. I browsed through your 'following' list and there's a lot of titles in there I've never really heard about. There's too many for me to name, but would you say most of those series are subpar or definitely worth watching?

I do have a very broad taste when it comes to series, whether it's regular television series or anime series. I'm no masochist in that I keep watching series if I think they're no good, though!

Most important thing for me is the story. I can endure below average acting and unrealistic portrayals of certain things - like how 'hacking' is shown in movies and series - as long as the story is interesting. The best example of this I can currently think of would be Terra Nova. I really liked the concept and aside from some plotholes, the story really drew me in. Another example would be Flashforward. They're interesting stories, but they lack in other areas which make a series a good series. So, although I think it's too bad they got cancelled after one season, I do understand why they wouldn't get another season. Well, aside from the lack of viewers, of course. Purely based on the quality of the episodes.

But, eh, I've been rambling apparently. Thought I'd introduce myself and ask you a question and ended up talking way too much! ;p

So that's it, nice to meet ya!
