It's a Canadian production, actually. Films in Ontario, setting is left ambiguous though.

@Renegade412 I KNOW! She plays like 6+ characters and she just doesn't get any credit. BTW is this filmed in the US, but still a BBC show, or do they film in the UK and make it look like America?

Isn't Tatiana Maslany just amazing? How this woman is continuously overlooked during awards season just blows my mind.

@Renegade412 I just finished S1 of Orphan Black, I enjoyed that much more than Sleepy Hollow. I've already downloaded S2. So I will probably finish that soon.

@Renegade412 Yeah I liked Sleepy Hollow but it moved really fast, I'm wondering how S2 will turn out considering everything went to shit at the end of S1. I have seen Derek, still need to watch the last 2 episodes. It's basically The Office/Extras in a different setting with a different character, but it's nice that Karl Pilkington is in it, although right now he's gone, don't know if he's coming back. I'm guessing he will, but story-wise, I'm unsure.

As for not being in the mood for a comedy, I don't really see Derek as a comedy as much as a drama. It's more of a black comedy, or a com-dram.

Not in the mood for a comedy -> last checked into Derek. =/. Like Sleepy Hollow?

@Renegade412 Yahoo also produced three seasons of Burning Love, which is a pretty great The Bachelor parody that's from some of the same people as Childrens Hospital, NTSF, etc.

I think Yahoo has done a couple of really short stuff (webisodes), but not really make shows. Sony is still making it, Yahoo will just be the distribution for it.

The Strain does look pretty cool. I just finished the series of novels it's based on a couple of days ago, and it should be a wild ride, but I can already see people getting pissed at some of the story directions towards the end.

@Renegade412 Awesome. Getting a movie made will be a piece of cake compared to getting a S5/6. It didn't have the best ratings, but it was consistent, which means the fan base is strong, which we already knew.

I also just watched the preview for The Strain on Xbox Live. I will probably be checking that out too. Since when did Yahoo! start making shows? And how do they plan to release it? Have they done series' before or are they just producing it? The good thing about TV alternatives like Netflix, Hulu, etc. is the creative freedom the creators get. So S6 is exciting, not that NBC ever really kept Community held back, except with S4.

Renegade412
Renegade412 (Jul 12, 2014)

Community has been revived by Yahoo, season 6 is coming! Don't know when/what format/how many episodes, but it's still alive.

@Renegade412 Thanks for the suggestions, and the details. I think Orphan Black is on Amazon Prime so I might check that out soon. Sleepy Hollow sounds interesting. I will also probably check out Rick and Morty just because Harmon is connected to it.

Speaking of Harmon, have you heard any news about Community S6? I heard that there were some talks with Hulu but nothing confirmed. I wouldn't mind seeing a sixth season and a movie. I honestly never thought another season would work but 5 was better than I thought it would be.

I don't really keep up with the forums anymore or news, so it's hard for me to find new shows to watch. I kind of just pick some at random or go by what I've seen others watched. I was pleasantly surprised with Arrow, fucking loved House of Cards (I am really liking Netflix series' so far, they seem to allow a lot of artistic freedom).

Rick and Morty: Animated comedy co-created by Dan Harmon, Rick is a wacky scientist who has created a device that allows him to travel to alternate dimensions. He takes his grandson, Morty, on many adventures. Pretty much think what if Dan Harmon just had creative freedom to do whatever kind of story he wanted, in a sci-fi setting, with terrific dialogue, fantastic jokes, and just really memorable episodes. Jump on the bandwagon now.

Banshee: Recently renewed for a third season. A criminal, who's sentence has been completed, is released from jail and tracks down his former partner (and lover) in a town call Banshee. They are both also still in hiding from her father, a crime boss known as Rabbit. In the first episode, the criminal is engaged in a firefight and the new sheriff of Banshee is killed - the criminal takes over his identity as Sheriff Lucas Hood, and battles with mobsters, redneck thugs, and the like. Not the best series you'll ever see, but another one of those shows worth watching because it's a lot of fun and the fight scenes are awesome and brutal. It's like a slightly more hardcore version of Justified, without dialogue on the same level.

Here you go, I limited my recs to 5, and double checked you hadn't seen them already. None of them are overly long, with around 70 episodes between them, but all are currently continuing.

Rectify: Nineteen years after being convicted for the rape and murder of his girlfriend, Daniel Holden is released from death row when new DNA evidence appears to exhonorate him. Whether or not he actually committed the murder or not remains a mystery, but the series follows Daniel's struggles to return to the outside world and how everyone around him reacts to his presence. Very slow moving, but has some extremely powerful scenes. Second season started a couple of weeks ago.

Orphan Black: A grifter witnesses the suicide of her doppelganger, and is suddenly thrown into a web of conspiracy. Features possibly the greatest performance by a woman on television by it's lead, Tatiana Maslany, who is asked to do so much work in this series but completely nails it every time. Worth it for her performance alone, but the story is also pretty engaging, especially in the first season. Season 2 recently wrapped up.

Sleepy Hollow: Loosely based on the short story. Ichabod Crane faces the Headless Horseman in combat in 1781, and they both manage to kill the other. Ichabod mysteriously reawakens in 2013 in the town of Sleepy Hollow, but he's not the only one - the Headless Horseman has also returned. Crane, with the help of local cop Abbie Mills, ends up confronting a rising storm of supernatural entities in the town. Was a surprising hit last season, great fun show in the vein of Supernatural, Fringe, etc.

Today is a great day to catch up on all my shows (even though I did most of it yesterday)...OUaT, SoA, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, and then I had P&R, The Office, Fringe, and others yesterday. I kinda like not keeping up with them week to week, it makes things a little more exciting making myself wait.

I remember someone mentioning here on my profile that thier favorite SoIaF book is Storm of Swords, because it's kind of the climax of the saga. Well I am a little over halfway through SoS now and I just have to say: "HOLY SHIT!"

@Flashman @dannys717

I don't doubt that they can make some more great episodes in S8,9, and 10, but it's my favorite show and I just don't want it ruined >.>

I think Supernatural's strongest attribute was how great it's story arcs were, and how well they were built up. It's going to be hard to top S4, 5, and even 6, but if they can do it, I really look forward to it. I'm glad they are deciding to make the next 3 seasons a story arc, hopefully it will have as much gravitas as earlier seasons.

Flashman
Flashman (Sep 07, 2012)

@dannys717 Honestly, while the show has had two weak seasons I think that's mainly a weakness of sloppy plotting and not show fatigue. The central performances are as good as the best seasons, so if Carver comes up with something compelling and they cast well they could be in for a solid late run. I haven't watched through Smallville but my understanding is that it was in worse shape by this point and still pulled out one of its stronger seasons in the final 3. The Supernatural concept is malleable enough there's no reason another 3 seasons would be an embarrassment.

@likwidsolutions Carver wants to do a 3 season arc and end after S10. If there is an overall story as opposed to a different big bad each season, this could work well. http://screenrant.com/supernatural-season-8-10-jeremy-carver/

Supernatural trailer looks pretty good. I look forward to S8, but I still hope this is the last season.

@Renegade Believe me, once you get your character fleshed out, Destruction magic is not weak at all. The only thing I disliked about the Destruction Magic route is that when you use robes, you have no defense whatsoever. I think they think that spells like Oakflesh, Stoneflesh, and the Wards make up for it, but it doesn't. Oak and Stoneflesh are good, but the Wards are annoying as hell to use, plus if you don't use dual destruction it can be a little weak, so that's one of the reasons I decided to make sure to have my character skilled in Light Armor. Ironically, I decided NOT to go with a physical character because those are usually the easiest characters to use. Although on my next game around I'm thinking of doing a Woodelf with One Handed and Archery, Sneak, Illusion, Light Armor, and others. I chose Woodelf for my first game but since I was going destuction magic, that was one of the worst calls I made, since it has no special magic bonuses. I decided to make my 2nd character a High Elf, much better choice.
