I can't believe how much they've already shown us with only three episodes in. I guess time will tell if this is well-done fast pacing or poorly thought-out rushed pacing. It definitely makes me want to keep watching though.

@dannys717 Ok, that's refreshing. That is a good way to sum up the season so far, that the mythology gets really fleshed out but the characters themselves are pretty lacking.
VanDerWerff says it very well in his review of the pilot. Murphy ignores character development and plot development in order to create great moments. For a 12 episode anthology series, those moments can cover up the faults. And yeah, season 2 is better. The mythology of the asylum isn't as clear as murder house, but the characters are better and none are as weak as the Harmons.
@dannys717 That's what I've been gathering. I typically don't like Ryan Murphy and thus I expected to hate this show, but while some of it really is terrible, the majority is actually really well-done. Basically, I'm surprised at how much I like this show, but I like it a lot. And from what I understand season 2 is much better.
It's a Ryan Murphy show. Some of the plot moves quickly while other plots are like molasses. With all of the crazy and weird things, some of it lands and some of it misses completely. I think the good parts are enough to enjoy the show and ignore the bad parts. Plus, season 2 has fewer of the bad parts.
