@dreamtolove sweet/vicious was precious and it could have done so much with even one more season, tbh i don't think they'll ever bring it back which is why i'm glad it ended on a positive note, but still, here's hoping!!

I will!! I've seen bits of s3/s4 on tv (again, no internet) but i'm looking forward to see it as a complete narrative, and i love those characters so much they are ♥️

@aliciagardner i loved sweet/vicious and i'll be sad forever that it was cancelled. i hope they find a way to resurrect it somewhere down the line. even if it's just for one more season, i really want more of it. new showrunners can always be a hit or miss but i feel like her credentials are solid so i'm pretty certain she'll keep with the feminist angle and maybe go even further? with 2 guaranteed seasons they'll have a lot more room to really push boundaries and take risks.

and yaaaas!! go for it!! i'm almost done w season 2 and i'm not prepared at all (still trying my best to watch slowly) but i love david and maddie so much. they're pretty much the highlight of my day ❤

@dreamtolove preach!! if girls like something then it's dumb and we shouldn't waste our time with it so romance and pop music or whatever other thing girls are interested in is automatically looked down upon. *insert eye roll*

and!! I also cried at the bold type, which is rare for me since i'm usually on robot mode, but it balances fun/light parts with heartwarming moments and themes really well, it's literally impossible to keep emotional distance. I was reading earlier that they changed the showrunner for s2 bc of "creative differences" so i hope they do keep with the feminism, but the woman they brought on worked on sweet/vicious, and that was also a show that did feminism really well imo (idk if you watched that) so i'm not too worried.

and tbh all this talk of moonlighting really makes me want to just get on with it already regardless of how much it hurts me, it's definitely worth it!!

@aliciagardner ahhh, i love when they break the fourth wall. it amuses me so much and it's always so well done. i'll never understand why romance is so looked down upon, but i have a feeling it all comes down to sexism. people hate what women enjoy, especially young women bc it tends to be young women/teen girls that love the romance genre. so they write it off as pointless + insignificant. romance is fine, so long as it's the macho man getting the girl (who had 2 lines) at the end of some flashy action film w/ no substance.

same!! i was so worried it'd get cancelled considering so many other female-led shows have been cancelled this year. it's just so well done and it's another show that reminds me of the fun, cute romcoms of the 80s/90s. i mean, i cry every ep - but it's mostly happy tears? and it's so feminist which is very refreshing given that so many shows aimed at younger women totally miss that mark (especially shows on freeform/cw)

@dreamtolove ugh, i've seen some of s4 with very little context and emotional investment, and it was painful, bc you feel like it drags out more than any reasonable storyline would? and obvs it's because they couldn't film together, but as a viewer you're like ???? still they did like a lot of creative/fun/interesting things with the characters they had and there's a lot of breaking the fourth wall and being like "lol we're doing what we can" which is very interesting to watch imo. and you're so right, i feel like romance has this negative implication nowadays, and you can't just openly do a show about that or say you just want watch romance without people looking down on you, it's infuriating. i agree completely though!

and! i had no idea about the bold type, that's great news!! i didn't expect that at all tbh, i was sort of worried it'd get cancelled from the first second, but i'm so glad that's not the case!! that show is a blessing + the way it does female friendships just slays my heart ♡

@aliciagardner it really, truly is + i know i'm gonna be in so much pain during s4. i feel like shows today compete with each other for saddest, most depressing material. it almost feels like they all try to one up each other with their death counts and i hate it. ever since romcom films fizzled out, i feel like there absolutely needs to be more on tv. and i think showrunners need to realise that sometimes familiar formulas work well bc everyone loves nostalgia and there's nothing more nostalgic than cute, feel-good romcoms!

i'm not sure why the bold type isn't on here! i feel like they've been slacking putting up new shows but hopefully, it'll appear soon. did you see that they just renewed it for 2 more seasons? i'm so EXCITED and grateful

@dreamtolove ikr, that's literally what i thought it was, and a legit reason why tv writers keep their ships apart TO THIS DAY. which is ridiculous, because they apparently had to bend over backwards to film, abc basically killed the show by not putting it on hold, and what "ruined" it was literally them being apart (by force) rather than them being together. It's perhaps the most frustrating mixup in the history of tv. and i agree completely, especially bc these are dark/scary times in a way, we need more escapism and general feelgood rather than all around misery porn. i'd love to see more lighthearted shows that aren't afraid to just do romance and fun and love their characters ♡

thank you for the follow btw, and hey, you watch the bold type! any idea why that show isn't on here?

@aliciagardner i followed you back <3 i'd heard so much about the moonlighting curse and the phrase makes me so sad bc from what i've read, them getting together didn't ruin the show? it was other things, like cybill having to film around her pregnancy + bruce being busy filming die hard. but over time it's been interpreted to mean that happy ships are boring and i hate that! build up and will they/won't they is absolutely fun but there aren't enough happy, stable ships on tv. i hate the idea that people think it's boring to watch a happy ship. i think the ~moonlighting curse is what puts a lot of people off the show, which is fair enough, but they're missing out on so much fun. but seriously!! i feel like current tv could learn a lot from early moonlighting? the world is sad enough as it is, people should be able to turn to tv and escape reality for a few hrs w/o being hit w even more sadness.

@dreamtolove yes yes yes, exactly! i love that it doesn't pretend to be anything else, that it doesn't shove pointless drama in your face every three episodes just because it *has* to. a lot of cases are just there to make a point about david or maddie or their relationship or to be entertaining, and the light tone is just a blessing because we're really not used to it lately ?? which is a shame, i would like to be happy sometimes. idk why it's not more of a must-watch, people talk a lot about the moonlighting curse but i've never seen gifs around or anything that has really made me want to watch it, i just stumbled upon it at 4am on tv while i had no internet and was like, i need to marathon all of this immediately.

also, i don't really use twitter but i'll follow you on tumblr, mine is eleanorxhenstridge! and please excuse my spelling from earlier, i should not type on public transportation

@aliciagardner that's ok, i'm exactly the same!! i keep trying to get people to watch it so i have someone to yell about it with. i'm surprised it isn't more of a cult favorite tbh? especially because it absolutely laid the groundwork for the x-files (and that has such a big fandom). i know exactly what you mean tho? it's like every other show that follows the formula gets too caught up adding more genres to the show. you very rarely find something that's completely driven by romance. it's also one of those shows that actually makes you laugh out loud and that's so nice? i know it gets sadder in the later seasons, but s1 + s2 are such a joy and compared to tv today?? it's such a breath of fresh air bc present day tv gets so caught up being sad and tragic all the time! also: if you have twitter or tumblr or something i absolutely wanna follow you so we can dm about this show ❤
