A little but cheesy, but decent after all.

Hey man, any rip in space and time, is still a rip. Meaning that certain things can pass through. It's not my fault radio waves are one of those things. Good luck when they pick me for Terra Nova and you fools get left behind.

On a side note, it still isn't confirmed how the communicate. I was too lazy to keep reading the page. It might be something else.

@ColeFrost touché. Radio waves are magical exceptions to everything in tvland :)

@Lemon

The beacon was to test to see if the time streams were the same. They basically sent something in, to sit in the ground for 85 million years, to see if they would find it. They didn't want to rewrite their own history. That was actually a really smart thing for any sci-fi show to mention. A camera wouldn't have told them anything about whether or not they would effect their timeline.

@oranges

How is that a stretch? Many shows and movies have similar setups and virtually all of them can send radio waves and other things through, both ways, even on one way travel ones. Short bursts of computer data, radio communications, and other things may very well be possible on the show. If an anomaly is open, they can probably be sent through. In fact, it may even be possible for them to open it up to go back, later on. That might be a stretch, but it is a typical tv move. Maybe they just require their own facility being built. This so sounds like a Stargate storyline.

EDIT: Check this.

Haha (Crew Twitter Question/Answer):

"I want to know how they communicate with the future if once you go to TN you can’t return?"

"Terra Nova can only communicate with Hope Plaza when the portal opens to allow a pilgrimage to pass through."

@ravenger

Yes. I mean they knew what time period it was and that people would meet them on the other side. They also knew about the extra oxygen and how the body would react. Yes, it is science, but at the same time they didn't have any way of just getting the facts on the other side, without having someone or something (A probe?) send back some data. They knew a little bit too much on the future side, to not at least assume they have some way of getting info back.

As for the markings, didn't they say something about how SHOW SPOILER .

@ColeFrost
I'm with you with the unstable anomaly, but the rest seems a bit of a stretch =/
The ought to be able to plaster up any plot holes given time, though.

@ravenger
From the first moment that SHOW SPOILER was mentioned, I thought it was obvious he was the one drawing on the rocks. Then the baddies went as said as much at the end, so I think that's cleared up.

I'm sort of hoping they kill off the young girl, though I can't see it happening. If they did that, it'd be a perfect way for them to stop being boring and failing lovey moments and they can go a bit darker.

Also, only a 3/5 for me. I'm pretty surprised the average is 3.9

@ColeFrost That makes sense, but they told in the episode that they sent a beacon into the anomaly and then try to find it in the present time. If radio waves could go both ways. Why didn't they just sent a camera?

ravenger

Well we can assume they know its there, because else they wouldn't send like seven large parties of people through just with promise of paradise, even considering how desperate people might be in that future. Of course the real question is about who made those markings on the rocks.

In all the series has got potential, but perhaps they could have set a better premise by being a bit less forgiving and thus make it more interesting to watch.

I obviously don't have the answers, but I don't think they are necessarily plot holes. For example, the whole 118 days thing might be that the anomaly was unstable at first or they simply learned how to use it better. They had a whole facility built around it, perhaps they are controlling it a bit. I'll give them time to explain it better.

There were some hints that they could communicate back. Since radio waves go both ways in most of the other tv shows and movies, I'm guessing they can talk to the other side. This isn't explained, but I recall a scene where it was kind of hinted at. If an anomaly is there, then they may be able to communicate back and forth through it, even if it is one way travel.

I don't know for certain, but I don't recall them ever saying they couldn't communicate back. They had all the info of people coming in, I mean it could be that the first person through brings it, but I don't remember them ever saying they couldn't send a signal back. It may even need to be open, so maybe they send signal bursts back and forth.

@Lemon Yeah, that's what I meant. They can't possibly know.
I hope this gets explained further on in the series
