Joffrey punishes Sansa for Robb’s victories, while Tyrion and Bronn scramble to temper the king’s cruelty. Catelyn entreats Stannis and Renly to forego their ambitions and unite against the Lannisters. Dany and her exhausted khalasar arrive at the gates of Qarth, a prosperous city with strong walls and rulers who greet her outside them. Tyrion coerces a queen’s man into being his eyes and ears. Arya and Gendry are taken to Harrenhal, where their lives rest in the hands of “The Mountain,” Gregor Clegane. Davos must revert to his old ways and smuggle Melisandre into a secret cove.

@maXceil is that all really necessary? ;)
Second Emmy / Golden Globe coming up for Peter Dinklage
@Bonermaster: about the pace and more movement needed;
i'm reading the books now and you will be amazed and surprised of all the turns and twists comming up in the future ;) just keep following it, it is truely a great story
flipa!
magnificent as usual.
@Bonermaster To be fair, in the books (minor spoiler, no specifics!) the red witch's shadow magic did 'happen'/was mentioned/was used before for something rather important - which I am not going to explain since I think that they absolutely -must- use it for that again anyway... just... later, apparently.
Although I was a bit amused back in Season 1 when they used dialogue word for word from the book, I am not sure yet if I like how they change things around now...
but I agree with nametaken on this - one really should read the books to get all of the background stuff - because there is a LOT.
This series isn't 'just' about who takes the Iron Throne, but the idnividual struggles of the [insert character(s) that one roots for] in these dark times of that fantasy world. And believe me, things get a LOT more fucked up than they got in this episode.
@Bonermaster Besides everything that has been mentioned here in the comments, I must add that the "shadow" magic we've seen in the final scene came out of nowhere, even in the books. It's a surprise element, and I don't think it was as horrible as you think it was. As you know, this is a fantasy series, and Martin does not even abuse of the fantastic stuff...
@Bonermaster "in the 13 previous episodes nothing was mentioned or showed about some sort of dark magic that went around in the world of GoT"
You skipped all that Dothraki demon witch shit in season 1 then? Or little Stark having visions? It's in the details brah
@Bonermaster Actually the white raven is the announcement that in fact winter has begun. So winter isn't coming anymore it's already there.
Besides that, the series is going the follow the books and believe me they've already skipped a lot.
The storyline is so big that a season of 10 episodes is just too short to make everything that happens with the not so normal stuff clear to the non-bookreaders. There's just not enough time to explain where this witch gets her power or to show even the smallest big battle. Which is the only weakness of the series.
If you love the story, you'll have to read the books. I've first watched the first season and then later started to read the books and now I still enjoy the second season even noticing the changes the writers made and so on.
Since they've planned 1 season= 1 book, you can't judge the series on his own neither expecting it to follow the book word for word.
@nametaken Well i knew it was based on the books, but since i dont know them and havent read them, i dont take them into account, i just look at the series' story.
Just another thing, the first season, they mention the fact that winter is coming alot, i havent heard anything about winter in this season so far.
As i view it, the series' basic point was the battle for the iron throne. And ofcourse it's a fantasy story, that wasnt my point. I just think this scene came out of nowhere and wasnt well implemented.
Apart from Ned Stark being killed (what i found was a awesome move) did anything really happen so far in the series?
Don't get me wrong, i still love the series but i think the story should progress a bit faster and that last scene sucks.
The fuck happened in the last 5 minutes
@Bonermaster You do know this is based on a book series of george r.r. Martin ?
And the whole series starts with the fact that winter is coming and with that the rise of all sorts of dark forces: white walkers, dragons, dark arts, ...
This is and stays a fantasy story. Although this isn't very obvious in the first season because it isn't winter yet.
In comparison with the books the series is moving quite rapidly imho.
The end fucked evrything up, really dissapointed. Look im ok with dragons and some mythical things, simply for the reason they mentioned them quite often already in the earlier episodes and you could expect it.These last 3 minutes were ridiculous, in the 13 previous episodes nothing was mentioned or showed about some sort of dark magic that went around in the world of GoT, out of nowhere, suddenly we have a powerfull dark witch who might match up to the dragons. This really saddens me, especially because its just another new element in this series while nothing really moves, if they keep this pace up, one of the 4 kings might end up in King's Landing within a season or 3. Some more movement in the story wouldnt be bad instead of keeping on making new storylines without anything that happens.
I only have one thing to say to that ending: WTF!
