@Sandrosaurus As Martin said, the scene was meant to be disturbing even in the books, but in a different way, not because of Jaime raping Cersei, but because they had sex on their child deathbed. That's the problem here for me, Jaime would have never raped her in my opinion, and they just betrayed his whole developing they built in 3 seasons for...what? It does not make any sense. @dreamtolove Generally speaking I agree with you, but the problem here is also that it DOES involve the characters here, and it will affect their relationship forever I think: it will ruin it. And why? Because they HAD to make Jaime do something that is not at all consistent with his personality...that's what I dislike the most here.
@Sandrosaurus "The way how they did it was indeed horrible...but you must admit that she mentally rapes all her enemies around her so" I didn't misread anything. Maybe you should try being more clear because that reads to me as "she hurts other people, so she deserved it."
@dreamtolove did I say she deserved it? No...read! It's nowhere in my comment...you see things that aren't there.
@JensWillems Rape: the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse. Rape is rape, man. She was telling him no. He said he "didn't care." Support the scene all you want but don't even try to say it wasn't rape, because it was.
@starspike That's not the point. We get it. Rape happens. Rape would happen a lot in a medieval setting. What matters is that they took a consensual sex scene from the books and changed it into a rape scene that actually makes little sense to the show or characters.
@Sandrosaurus ????? That doesn't mean she deserved to be raped. Especially considering she was raped repeatedly in the past by her first husband and Jaime was aware of this. She may be awful but she has had an equally awful life. I'm not saying that excuses anything because it really, really doesn't but it does not give any man, certainly not a man she is in love with, the right to rape her.
@Clef Exactly!! Not to mention the fact that he was more than well aware that Cersei had been raped repeatedly in the past by her first husband. That was one of the reasons that drew them together. He was loving and kind and supportive where her husband was not. The sex scene in the book is still disturbing (for different reasons) but it was very much consensual and Cersei was very much in control of it. They completely took that out of the show. Like, not just the fact that she was willing, but the fact that she initiated it as much as him. Basically, it was completely unnecessary and not relevant at all to the plot or character arcs.
Great conversations in this one.
People... Quit the whining. It's a whole other time, a time in which stuff like rape just happened a lot more. Does that make rape ok? Offcourse not... But how many things are "ok" in that world and time?
It's fucking Cersei.. Ofcourse she deserves getting raped. She's the most evil bitch in whole Westeros. And i don't think she was really "raped raped."
