how would tommy even know most of his bio family's past with nucky? he was like 5 when richard put him on a train with the sagorskys. that older teen in the margins this whole season was supposed to be 13, 14? and the sagorskys told him nucky killed his dad, for some reason? And what happened to the sagorskys? You know, those characters we actually became interested in? they just get on a train and then the two of them don't appear again but their adopted son does?
this was overall a super sloppy show that never figured out how to build a show around nucky (who spends most of the final season doing nothing) and frequently steered away from its most interesting facets. al capone was fascinating in the early seasons as you saw him as a real man, dealing with his wife and his deaf son. then he's a cartoon character for 3 entire seasons. what a waste of stephen graham. every great actor here is ultimately wasted as the show falls in a chasm between character-based and plot-based drama, serving neither. hell, this final season didn't even have much gangster action! how can you not get at least that right??
truly baffling that anybody considers this on even a neighboring tier to 2000s/2010s classic TV dramas. this show never even played the same league as The Sopranos. perfectly fine, watchable, that's it.
I must say I'm disappointed in the fifth season :(
Brilliant ending, finished the show perfectly.
i dont know if i was expecting more or just had a feeling about this ending
Oh I get now why the previous ending was so over the top. Gillian lured Nucky like the siren she is and we only realize it jut before the last shot when she's beckoning him to his death. Wow. I'm in need of new favorite series.
This whole episode felt like a death, with the gradual falling away of worldly things until only memory is left. One of the most fitting series finales I've seen, though I wish the final scene had closed on Buscemi's face.
What goes around...comes around...
- Goodbye Atlantic City
I don't know, this is definitely a good episode and the final scene is great, but I expected way more for some reason. Maybe my expectations were too high for this one, not sure. I just wanted it to be bigger and to provide us with more closure regarding some of the other characters...
@Sandrosaurus He's doing something about rock n roll (based on true history). But I don't think it was a series (more a movie)
Wow!
