Burned out and broke, former Major League pitcher Kenny Powers returns to his North Carolina hometown. After moving into his brother's house, he takes up a job as a middle school gym teacher, the same school he once attended. Brimming with undeserved confidence, Kenny sets his sites on winning back his old high school girlfriend April, who is engaged to the school principal.
