The new data importer has been deployed
Dear Amazing Loyal Users,
I'm happy to announce that we just deployed an update to the website. We've deployed our new data importer which is using thetvdb.com as a datasource instead of the dead tvrage.com. This is a limited implementation and we did not move the full importer feature set to thetvdb because their API has some limitations.
Going forward, we realized that we no longer want to rely on an external API source for our data. We always thought "We are going to do our own data once our community is big enough
", and I believe we are close to that minimum community size.
With that in mind, we are shifting our effort in for the new version towards community tools for open sourcing the entire data set of followmy.tv. In the future we will combine the awesomeness that is our users, and develop our own data without an external API.
As usual, since we just deployed experimental code to production, feel free to email us if you encounter any strange data related bugs.

yesss, thankss ! waited long for this !
Finally you are back <3 I didn't expect myself to be that happy!!!
Awesome thanks. Glad to have the site back!
@Xeniiaa Currently we do not detect new shows yet, because thetvdb does not provide timezone or country information, we will have to review them before activating which requires a moderator to do and a system that does not exist yet.
As for your question regarding the non linked tv shows, you can email them to me (sarah@followmy.tv) with the names or links to their fmtv pages and then I'll sync them up.
@Lemon if "Share on Facebook" is active I can't mark the episode as Watched. If I uncheck "Share on Facebook" it works perfectly. Thanks!
A lot of shows aren't linked to their thetvdb link, can I link them or do I have to say which shows? And If I want to add a show, do I just need to do it on thetvdb and the next day it's on followmytv like tvrage?
@hot4mix Yup, those are artifacts that happen because of the API switch over, we used unique tvrage id's with tvrage, with thetvdb we are using the season + episode number combination. Over the next days / weeks I will be going through these edge cases and try to fix them.
@sebyal What exactly doesn't work yet? Need more info to know what I need to fix :)
It doesn't work properly yet
@Lemon Nice, thank you for the update
@lemon, found something, wouldn't call it a bug, but there are now lots of duplicates, considering how TVRage had shows like Mythbusters and Tom & Jerry in a standard season format, and TVDB has them in a season by year or whatever you call it :D.
if you check MythBusters you get seasons 1 through 18 and 2003 through 2015
@harrrr @dude8604 Indeed, post to Facebook & Twitter is next up on my todo list to fix this week.
Thank you so so so much! @Lemon
@Lemon thx for the new importer!
@dude8604 It only worked for me when I disabled 'Post checkins to my fb wall' in my settings.
@Woutr900 New shows are currently not yet detected. Thetvdb also has limited airtimes but I'll work on a fix for that.
Big up to the developer(s), this is some awesome news.
Keep up the good work.
@Lemon Thanks for fixing this. I found a few bugs though. I can't check in episodes from the Show List page. On the page for a specific episode, it looks like the episode check in works, but it doesn't seem to save it. And on the "links" section for an episode, it links to "/episodes/Tvrage".
Finally some good news, welcome back :)
Welcome back!
