Dear users,

It has been almost one year since our last update, we had promised you a lot of features and we hope we don't disappoint with this new update to the website.

With this update we bring you some new features:

  • Facebook and Twitter connect integration
  • Revamped dashboard with search ability
  • Checkin to your episodes with an optional message
  • Tweet or post your checkins to your facebook wall
  • Notification center to make it easier to see who mentions you and who wants to be your friend
  • Revamped episode pages making it easier to mark multiple episodes as watched
  • You can now checkin to episodes without following a show

In addition, a couple things have changed that effect the behavior of a couple buttons

  • We removed the acquired option to episodes
  • Unfollowing a show no longer removes your checkins for that TV show

We have also made some improvements on the design and usability of a few pages:

  • Brand new homepage
  • Improved the dashboard with more informative activity streams of your friends
  • More filter options for the various show discovery pages
  • Improved the profile pages
  • The tag pages now allow you to sort and filter shows
  • Searching for tags is now possible

As well as some other features and improvements that we leave you to discover.

We hope that you enjoy this update and don't hesitate to leave us some feedback on the update as comment.

Apparently the acquired option is still in the system? I just check one of the shows I followed and in the bulk episode editor, I could still find episodes with the status "Acquired". But the option to acquire an episode is gone (which was part of the update).

Perhaps it could be brought back in the bulk episode editor. That way the button is still gone from the dashboard, but the people that want it back can still use it to keep track of their episodes.

@Fllu Actually, watched on the dashboard generates a checkin. You are maybe right about copy, we'll see if we can make this more consistent.

Saving dashboard state will be supported too in the next incremental update.

Some of the changes I like, some I don't.

First, I like the option to checkin, but why do we have to go to the episode page to do it? Just add a button on the dashboard, next to the watched button. It would be much easier. Right now it's just stupid.

Second, you should add an option to change the dashboard default from "my unwatched shows" to "my pinned shows". Somehow, for me it's easier that way and I think the option for everyone to choose what it first sees first would be best.

Third, I like the new profiles. But it's not a major redesign. I think it would be great if you'd get inspired by the last.fm profiles, and lose some of those tabs. I don't know about others, but I'd like to see Recently watched, loved shows, etc. on the first page of my profile (with the potion to see them detailed on another page, of course). Just look carefully at a last.fm profile, it would fit for followmy.tv as well... Now, I'm not saying to copy it exactly, but it's good for inspiration.

Fourth, another great idea would be to add lists. And the most useful one would be a "To Watch" list. Right now, the only option to remember which shows I want to watch sometime in the future is to just follow them. But a list would be better.

Any way, this is it for now. It would be great if you could tell me what you think about these ideas and how likely it is to implement them in the future.

I miss that button that said "Watched" a Next unwatched episode on profile show. Now it takes 4 steps (show - episode - checkin - watched) instead of 2 (show - watched).

Watched botton was here -> http://oi43.tinypic.com/2dhz70n.jpg

Finally we can see what our friends rate the episodes they watched, very cool addition. I like that you can directly comment on your friends who just watched something, I like how I can directly see which popular shows I'm already watching (and even love!). I also like that the look and feel of the website is a little more bloated (for lack of a better, more positive sounding word ;) ), and a little less just listings of episodes watched.

However, I do kinda miss the Excited!-feature I suggested some time ago on the support page ;)

EDIT:: Oh and I am someone who used the acquired buttons by the way, but I'm not sad to see them go to be honest.

Thank you for your comment walbert. You completely described problem I have with new version of followmy.tv. :) Except this one I really like what new version brought.

@walbert Thanks for the feedback, a very good point about the tabs not remembering where they were, we will look into that this week to fix that.

Removing the acquired option was a hard choice we had to make, but by removing it, we simplify everything else. A lot of people were asking what it was meant for.

Great looking update, but it lacks a little on the usability side...
I miss the aquired option and the "My unwatched shows - My pinned shows" tabs on the dashboard should remember which was selected as I only need the pinned shows and have to switch back on every visit.
But basically you are doing great work, keep it up!
