This show makes me move!
I'm in love with New Orleans now :)
Another David Simon masterpiece. Not as good as The Wire but still way up there. Tremendously underrated, although I understand this show doesn't appeal to everyone. But still, the story, script and characters are world class.
Absolutely love this show and I hate it had to go so soon, not even a normal final season.
I don't know why but this show is awesome.
Fourth and last season will be a short one (rumours say 5 episodes).
Glad it's back for a third season in september. There are also plans for a fourth season, but not much known about that.
@kakature
It pulls roughly 1/5 of what Game of Thrones does, actually less if you count target audience only. It also has less competition, in my opinion.
If I recall correctly, True Bloods numbers were, on average, almost double that what Game of Thrones is doing right now. Even Bored to Death and Eastbound and Down were higher, yet borderline renewals.
I'm not trying to knock Treme, I just can't believe you would say that it is not suprising. I mean I know premium channels count repeat airings, DVD sales, etc... more than others, but still. The ratings are pathetic.
It is either getting picked up because of Simon or because they think the sales are respectable. It is possible those few subscribers are so loyal that they alone count, but I have seen many places say HBOs tactics are known only to them. Perhaps it is critical acclaim...
I like the show, but it isn't The Wire or even close in terms of watchability.
It's not surprising. The only surprising thing to me is that this show doesn't have a lot of viewers.
Renewed:

A bit surprising considering it has awful all around ratings. Far worse than Game of Thrones, which is its lead-in. I think this was just a sign of respect for David Simon. I'm sure the few subscribers and the DVD/Bluray sales that it brings can still be met, but it has to be close. The weekly numbers are so low, even on additional airings.
Can't wait for season 2.
lovin the music !
@kakature Indeed !
Very good first season. David Simon is a hero.
Looking forward to this.
