From executive producer Steven Spielberg, Falling Skies stars Noah Wyle as a former college professor who becomes the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians struggling against an occupying alien force.
Moon Bloodgood co-stars as Anne Glass, a therapist who works with the surviving children to help them cope with the traumatic situation. The series also stars Drew Roy as Hal and Maxim Knight as Matt, Tom's two sons; and Seychelle Gabriel as Lourdes, an orphaned teenager who helps run the group's commissary.

@ColeFrost From your link:
"Those who love to hate Falling Skies and who were rooting for big drops will be disappointed."
I laughed :D
But to be fair- I'm now finding myself uninterested in this. Initially I was strangely excited, then enjoying it. Now I'm seeing boring, nothing characters and far too unrealistic scenes. Seemingly a late realisation according to the numbers.
One more episode I think, but after the latest episode I *instantly* see nothing in this.
Anyone else who originally liked this or thought it was decent totally backpedaling?
It didn't fall much for the fourth episode:

I can believe that, it's just not that good.
I agree with this review on IMDB:
"You get the occasional firefight with the aliens and the standard human bandits. And of course there is the rising tension between the military and civilians. Sounds very familiar doesn't it? Like Battlestar Galactica or Stargate Universe? And these shows were pretty recent, so why copy their premises?
And you get the same cliché characters: the hard-ass group commander, the father looking for a lost son, the hot tough chick that can fire a gun, the tough guy outlaw that knows more about fighting the aliens than the soldiers, the pretty doctor that stands up for the civilians. A big yawn. While I was watching, I could literally predict what was going to happen next. And I found it hard to care about these characters at all. Is it really so hard to do something a little more original? "
The ratings dropped 25% in the 18-49 demographic:

Episode dates are one behind I think
Pilot was horrible, ep 2 (second part of the pilot) was a lot better. Not sure if I'm gonna continue watching this tho.
@ColeFrost tnx!
@ColeFrost idd, thx for the intel
Everyone, check your episode list.
Yesterday the pilot was considered to be two episodes, so everyone marked off two episodes. This wasn't actually the case where the site gets its info from, TVRage.
Anyway, the site finally updated its database and matched the whole one episode for the pilot thing, shifting to only nine episodes for the season.
Then, someone readded the episode to TVRage, resulting in this site updating again and bringing back the second part of the pilot as a separate episode.
My episode list had 1 and 2 marked off originally, then with the two database updates it marked off 1 and 3.
You may want to check to see if you have right episodes marked off.
I liked it, not awesome but a good show
not sure how i feel about the show yet, but it was good to have noah wyle back on my tv screen :D
Will watch due lack of shows atm :P
My only concern with the show was how can they move so freely around in groups of 300 persons when those airplanes are heat seekers? Also the aliens are apparently only in some buildings or something lol.
(took me a night to figure this out fwiw)
i thought it was pretty bad tbh. 3 hot chicks tho.
@StevieG Watched it, gave it 3 stars, was hoping for a better pilot.
Initial numbers are in and are very high:

Quite a good start. I'll see what the next episode brings. Pinned.
it was pretty good. The only thing I missed was like the "beginning". Always love the beginning when mayhem starts lol, but maybe we will get this in a later stage through flashbacks.
Seems to be pretty divisive. Never a good sign for sci-fi.
Maybe some of us are happier with well-worn ideas. Post-apocalyptia, tropes 'n' all, has a soft spot in my heart :D
FWIW, after reading some of the comments I rewatched the entire double again, and I still like it :)
booooooring, bad actors .......... >.<
