Weird show. Perhaps not actually weirder than any other show with 'magic', but without any pseudo explanations for it I feel very unsatisfied. Magic without explanation is just a plot hole in my view. These aren't small, forgettable gaps in logic; nothing makes sense. I don't know whether that was really for effect, or if someone couldn't put the idea together fully and decided to make it 'for effect' - but.. nothing makes sense! Nothing is even explained. Not with in-world science, CSI (lazy) science or even under the umbrella term 'magic'. It just happens.
I feel the show strung me along like a mystery and then never paid me back. Half way through I prepared myself to wait for answers until the end. I thought the end would be an explanation. Nope. Just one last tease.
I won't mention any of the non-magic plotholes.
Well, a couple. (not really spoilers)
SHOW SPOILER After all that - what did the bad guys want.
What did the detectives think they could do, going into the research company HQ.
How did they escape. Pick a person, group. Pick a time.
As I watched, if I tuned out a bit (as you do), I didn't mind it. I was interested, intrigued. Only It turned out to be a massive tease.
If you only read the first two thirds of novels, mystery or otherwise, this is for you!
Everyone else, though specially those that hate a good plot hole, skip this. Feeling cheated sucks.
