@Zelos Laura Dern's character Amy essentially has an angry meltdown at work after an affair with a coworker, goes off to Hawaii to a therapy retreat and buys into their kind of hippie-ish philosophy. She comes back to LA, moves in with her mother and tries to put her life back together and "improve the world." She's completely insufferable, and the show knows it, but also makes her sympathetic. It's a low key exploration of the gaps between actions, intents, and what we tell ourselves our intents are. It's not for everyone, but most people who get into it are hooked by the fourth episode, which is outstanding. I enjoy Nurse Jackie and thought US of Tara was great, but this is in a whole different category.
@Flashman What's this show about? All I know about it is that it's one of those female-starring cable dramedies I know little about, like Nurse Jackie and Tara.
@Zelos Season one was excellent, but this season has been even better, and this episode was a masterpiece. It's a series of narrative collisions that build on what's come before while the show's writing, acting and directing all peak at the same time. There's an episode in season one called Consider Helen that I think might be better than this one, but this was just so good.

@Flashman That sounds pretty good, I'll have to check it out when I'm in the right mood. Thanks!
