Anthony Clark portrayed Boyd Pritchett, a genial, easy-going twenty-something from Virginia (Clark is from Virginia) who delivers his sister Wyleen (played by Hedy Burress) to college in Boston. Then Boyd falls in love with Joy (Traylor Howard) and decides to stay, much to Wyleen's dismay. Boyd eventually gets a job at the college and shares an apartment with Wyleen. Wyleen's inclination is to be sexually active, but Boyd tries to inspire her with his chaste pursuit of Joy.
The cast included Tasha Smith, Vincent Ventresca and Steve Paymer in supporting roles (and later the cast would be joined by Roger Rees). The show also boasted a long list of recurring character actors, including Leah Lail, Robin Duke, Sam Anderson, Zach Galifianakis and Margot Kidder.
The show was created by Max Mutchnick and David Kohan. They based the fictional school on Emerson College in Boston, which Clark and Mutchnick attended in real life.
