i thought the same. but the fact that she changed the subject and he sort of cried means nothing good :-/

as I remember there was an episode about "eating sandwiches" where last scene is 2030 college reunion and Ted, high and giggling, asks "where is my wife?". if they did such scene and despite that wind up killing the mother it would be stupid - imagine all people rewatching the series knowing how it ends and seeing something like this...
but on the other hand makers of himym are already disrespectful towards fan of the show - giving them reaaaally awful last few seasons

@LizzieSiddal Yeah, i knew that the term "romantic" would get me in trouble here :)
But think of it as a heartbroken man, who has the urge to tell his children about how he met their fantastic mother. But along the way, gets carried away a wee bit ;)

I agree with you about the fact we don't care much for her. But try not to focus too much on that detail.
We already knew we wouldn't get attached to the mother with this show. And we do know they get to spend at least 10 years together.
So instead of a feel-good-ending where we get to read or fastforward scenes (scrubs) of their lives together, we get to see how he loses her aswell...

@w00tert Maybe you should rethink your definition of "romantic".
To sum it up, after this last season/episode: This is the story of a widowed father, who spent an incalculable amount of time boring his children with his shenanigans: the wild fucking around, the drinking and such before meeting some random woman, marry her within the year, impregnate her twice, and watch her die after 10 years. Well that's not creepy AT ALL!
We don’t know her as a character, she is just some woman, she is only a means to ensure that Ted has children, and that's extremely sexist and superficial. They had plenty of time in this season to build up the good background story for the mother that we all deserved after 9 years of waiting.

Because it makes the whole story of Ted telling his kids about how he met their mother, the love of his life, incredibly romantic and stuff..

why were they crying? i don't wanna know the answer. It's just too predictable, and stupid... after nine years, this season was just too disappointing, and now they're desperatly trying to make us forget that, by using this gratuitous tear-jerking expedient. Seriously? this should be the "happy" ending? Am i supposed to be surprised, touched, shocked? i don't even know the mother! they never tried to make her a proper character... why should i care if she die?

Can't believe nobody is talking about the fact they kind of hinted that the mother is dieing and won't see her daughter get married... :'(

@TheKiw I always turn it off before "next week blah blah blah" but it really is a great ... omen. I don't think they can show anything good in the preview since there is no good in the whole episode :D
