Two-part documentary about Broadmoor Hospital. Originally built in the Victorian era, it is now a high-security psychiatric hospital and home to the country's most violent offenders. Many of these men have committed appalling crimes and are considered too dangerous to be treated anywhere else. Over the years, they have included Ronnie Kray, Peter Sutcliffe, Charles Bronson, Robert Napper and Kenneth Erskine. All of Broadmoor's inmates suffer from mental disorders, now those that have the capacity to give consent are allowed to tell their stories for the very first time. We meet the men starting their Broadmoor journey, others who are responding well to treatment and some whose lack of cooperation keeps them from moving on. There are also interviews with the staff who have to deal with the hospital's most volatile patients and run a daily risk of assault.
