England face Russia at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille with hopes high amongst their camp and supporters that they can mount a strong bid to win the tournament for the first time. Opponents Russia qualified for the tournament courtesy of finishing second in their group behind Austria. Wales play Slovakia in their opener in what is a first appearance at the finals of a European Championship for both countries.
