Ross applies for a paleontology grant - and finds out Charlie's ex-boyfriend - Benjamin Hobart (Greg Kinnear) reviews the applications, wanting Ross to break up with Charlie. During the interview, Benjamin sabotages Ross's application by not asking him any paleontological questions. Phoebe needs to get rid of her work of art- Gladys, thinking Monica likes it, and Monica to spare her feelings pretends to like it. Joey tries to convince Chandler to get him into a commercial that Chandler's ad agency is making by giving him a videotape of all the commercials he has done. When Chandler lies to spare Joey's feelings, Joey instantly sees through his lies, forcing Chandler to apologize by putting blue Japanese lipstick on his lips.
