九島家が極秘裏に行なっていた実験は、パラサイトを女性型戦闘ロボットに憑依させたパラサイドールの開発だった。パラサイドールの運用実験が行なわれるスティープルチェース・クロスカントリーの会場警備は、異常なまでに厳しく、達也ですら侵入出来ない。そこで達也はピクシーにパラサイトの監視を命じ、自分はエンジニアとしてCADの調整を行ないながら、下級生への指導を行なう。だが連日の激務と緊張の連続で達也はこれまでにない疲れを感じていた。
