The Monkees - 1x23 Captain Crocodile

Appearing on "The Captain Crocodile Show," The Monkees get cream pies in the face and refuse to perform. They decide to take it up with Junior Pinter, the 12 year-old executive in charge, who wants them to appear on "The Captain Crocodile Show" on a regular basis. Having put through a call to his father, the network president (who gave him the show for his birthday!), vacationing in Sidney, Australia, Junior guarantees The Monkees there'll be no more pies in the face and will be given the chance to perform. Having received a memo from Junior, Captain Crocodile fears the competition, and instructs his yes-man, Howard Needleman, to spring into action and make sure The Monkees' second appearance is a disaster. On the show, The Monkees are prevented from singing at every turn by a wavy camera, a fish net, and an explosive-laced bass drum.
