De zaak Rob Dingemans neemt een onverwachte wending. Witse raakt ervan overtuigd dat de manege slechts een dekmantel is voor een professioneel georganiseerde diamantsmokkel. De criminelen blijken uiterst gevaarlijk te zijn. Intussen loopt het assisenproces waar Sams broer Luc terechtstaat voor medeplichtigheid aan moord. Sam wordt opgeroepen als karaktergetuige en houdt een vurig pleidooi in het voordeel van Luc.
