Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of "beautiful minds" that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard's roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow CalTech scientists Wolowitz and Koothrappali. However, Leonard sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities... including love.

Screw this, I won't follow this show anymore. These first two episodes (season 5) are in line with a weak season four in favor of a larger target group (<-> S01-S02)
Why I quit?
1. Predictable and not very interesting situations & dialogs;
2. Predictable characters (especially Sheldon - his act isn't funny anymore);
3. "Easy" (read: less clever) humor;
4. Annoying Amy;
5. Shitty laugh track.

The part of the kissing of Raj and Howard of the episode 2 was very funny!

@ColeFrost Now you're clear, I agree with you on that! But in the case of HIMYM, I think it's just running out of ideas, instead of underusage of the Barney character.
And about the shows in general: people will always have to pick on something. If it gets boring, they complain. If it's good and it ends, they want more. I haven't seen that many shows that ended right on time :p

Perhaps, but as I recall, the best that HIMYM ever did, in my opinion, was when they made Barney the main character. I can't remember which season it was, since I watched them back in the day. For at least a full season, the story was about him and it was by far my favorite season of the show.
Every episode was a new one of his rules or having him explain something throughout it. The show shifted from their weak storyline (Just introduce the Mother!) to a pure(r) comedy.
Do I think that HIMYM or TBBT should revolve around one person? No. I was only saying that they push there best characters to the back and have lesser seasons.
Almost every show turns bad anyway, but a common occurrence among these types of shows(add Entourage and many others) is that eventually people get bored of story lines that revolve around unfunny characters that are not good leads. Then they just want the comedy. I want more of a balance.
I would settle for Amy killed off.
@ColeFrost And that's a good thing! Do you think they'd be able to make season after season if almost every episode was about Barney/Sheldon? The main story line revolves around, yes, some less interesting characters than the supporting acts. In doing so, they can spread all the funny parts over the episodes, instead of trying to entertain the audience minute after minute with the best act. They'd run out of ideas after 2 seasons. It's kind of a moneymaker though.

I disagree on Howard having as much value as Sheldon. I feel they could write off everyone, but Sheldon, and the show would still be watchable.
With that said, I am in no way knocking Howard. I just think you are giving him too much value. He is not Sheldon, in my opinion.
My comparison of Barney and Sheldon is that neither is the main character, but both should be. Ted from HIMYM and Leonard from TBBT are both boring, compared to both those characters and the other ones. Basically both stuck characters that are boring, in the lead spots.
Basically, I'm not devaluing the rest of the casts, like Howard or anyone else (Other than Amy, she is awful), I'm just saying they picked the wrong leads and are suffering. Family Guy does the same thing with Peter as the lead and Stewie as a supporting character. When Stewie, Barney, or Sheldon get the most screen time in an episode, they are usually the best episodes.
Before I run out of room, I agree on the story arcs.
@ColeFrost It's not quite like How I met Your Mother where Barney alone can carry the show. Howard has at least as much comedy value as Sheldon, but it's true there's too much Amy in the show and in general they try too hard to tell a story. People aren't looking for massive story arches in this kind of series but just for 20 minutes of pure uncut comedy, I don't understand how producer cannot see that.
