The Killing is based on the wildly successful Danish television series Forbrydelsen and tells the story of the murder of a young girl in Seattle and the subsequent police investigation.
The Killing ties together three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives assigned to the case, the victim's grieving family, and the suspects. Set in Seattle, the story also explores local politics as it follows politicians connected to the case. As the series unfolds, it becomes clear that there are no accidents; everyone has a secret, and while the characters think they've moved on, their past isn't done with them.

First two seasons were good. An American series that felt like a British Mystery.. detailed and procedural.
Well, kinda short the last season...Was good, but nothing superb...
@harrrr What? Season 3 was great! Maybe the finale could have been a little better. They should've given more details about the The Pied Piper Killer.
Season 4 premiers on august 1st on Netflix.

"The Killing" is not coming back. AMC cancelled this show :(
@smillajasperson thanks!
@CamilloVip The suits at AMC have yet to make an official announcement—which could come any day—but if expert opinion is any indication, the network has aired the series’ final episode and there will be no Season 3 of “The Killing.”
If that’s the case, it shouldn’t come as a surprise, especially since Season 1 of “The Killing” premiered to 4.6 million viewers and only drew 1.8 million for its Season 2 finale.
Any news about the next season?
This show had everything I like: multi-dimensional characters who weren't black and white but had their flaws. The dense atmosphere. No clear happy endings but also moments of relief.
Loved the show and loved the last episode. It was more shocking than I imagined it'd be.
loved season 1, don't like season 2 - and there are only 3 episodes left.
@walbert I couldn't agree more
