Always liked this show. It was not always very high quality stuff, but I could appreciate it very much. Very entertaining.

Hope I'm not the only one...but how great was the first episode of the season? Can't remember seeing a better Eureka episode ever. Beeing so full of (well made) Drama and still had me laughing.

Actually, SyFy is doing Christmas Specials for some of their shows now. They had some British programming, so I'm guessing that they are copying the British style of doing it. That would be to do a standalone Christmas episode each year (See Doctor Who).
This show just happens to split seasons over two years, so they did two Christmas specials in the same season. I fully expect another one, next year. They will stretch the final season out as much as possible. It will probably end in the Summer of 2013, so next year may be the final Christmas Special.
nvm, apparently it was the 2012 christmas episode, but since the show was canceled, they aired it this year.

Officially cancelled. Not only that, they also dropped the 6 episode final season idea. The show will now end with the 5th season. They did hint that it would wrap things up:

Eureka is coming to an end, apparently. It looks like they ordered 6 more episodes, for a sixth season, and are planning those as the final episodes. It will still be a long time before they get around to airing them.
