This week, Bristol-based biker paramedic Dean ‘Wingnut’ Wiltshire faces a race against time and tide when he goes to the assistance of a woman who is stuck in the mud on the banks of the river Avon. There is not a second to spare – the water is low at the moment, but the tide can rise by a foot every seven minutes. Unfortunately, all is not as it seems and Dean soon finds himself dealing with unexpected complications.
Wingnut’s fellow biker paramedic Tom makes his ‘Emergency Bikers’ debut as he races to help a cyclist who has collided with a car. She is in agony and it looks as though she has a nasty fracture.
In Cornwall, Ian has a heart-breaking case to deal with as he helps a patient who is seriously ill at home. Keith has steadily gone downhill in the 15 years that he has had Alzheimer’s and can now do nothing for himself. His devoted wife Mary is constantly by his side, even sleeping on the sofa by his bed for the last two years so that he is never alone. She is far from well herself and is praying that Keith will still be alive for their golden wedding anniversary. Ian gently does all he can, but this is a case that he cannot easily leave behind.
Meanwhile in Essex, not much escapes the attention of biker cop squad boss Nick Edwards. A routine check of a caravan soon turns into a drugs bust and the cop with the ‘super nose’ comes into his own.
