Emergency Bikers - 6x04 Episode 4

This week, in Cornwall, biker paramedic Iain Hooper fears the worst as he races to the aid of a man who has fallen from the roof of his house and landed head-first on his van. There is a real risk of life-threatening injuries or paralysis and Iain has not a minute to spare.

In Bristol, Dean ‘Wingnut’ Wiltshire is with a young homeless man in the city centre who is suffering the effects of alcohol withdrawal. At first, it seems that all he needs is a sympathetic ear, but before long, Dean discovers that something else entirely is a foot.

Rich Coad – who at 24 years old is the baby of the Bristol biker paramedics – is with Beryl, who may have had a seizure. Facts are proving hard to come by in this case, so it is down to Rich to work out what exactly has taken place. The situation is complicated by the fact that Beryl also has Parkinson’s disease. Daughter Sarah, who gave up work to look after her mum, is by her side throughout and Rich is full of admiration for her.

Veteran biker cop Steve ‘Clem’ Clements loves his job – particularly the fact that things are very rarely what they seem to be. This time, he is dealing with a car which has been flagged by police cameras as having no insurance. This simple piece of surveillance sparks an investigation with very interesting results and Clem is soon reaching for his handcuffs.

Finally, Mick Wills is on the tail of a speeding biker. The programme reveals whether or not the police tend to go easy on fellow bikers, as biker squad boss Sgt Nick Edwards explains why traffic police are sometimes known as ‘black rats’…
