Three's a Crowd

Definitely one of the best episodes, I agree with almost all things mentioned here. I think it's very explicitly an episode about their relationship and the way it's evolving, only wrapped in parallels and analogies (something this show is very good at). I feel like it's a milestone, like the boxing match episode.

@shallowfox I think the oddness stems from the fact they never really commit to each other, they never let themselves be (fully) invested in their relationship and that seemed different now. Mainly because Bill was so open and vulnerable I think.

I soooooo wanted IT to be HIS :(
I hate Libby for pressuring Virginia to fall in love in George... I understand why but I don't like it

I totally agree with you guys. Seriously, this was one of the best episodes so far. I also loved the paralel between the king's wife and Bill's indecisions about what he really wants in his life, what he has and what he truly feels. It was so clear that when he was saying that he had "all", the family, the kids and the soulmate, he wasn't talking about Libby and the kids. He was talking about Giny and the kids. But at the same time, he has never said that to her.

Am surprised to see such a low average rating, as I thought this was one of the most thoughtful and interesting episodes discussing women's role in society and how children see their parents (being there vs making the world a better place for the children argument). I loved seeing George contemplate about what he's given up for his children, and it was almost ironic how Virginia admitted how good he was with kids - remembering her remarks about his role as a father in the very beginning of the show.

Another weird thing: while I have always liked Virginia's relationship with Bill, there is also always something that seems slightly odd to me. This episode, however, was perfect. I think it was the interesting juxtaposition of "what we have to do for the book" and "what we have to do for ourselves" that made it so interesting. How both of them came to terms with there being more to care about than the research.

Sorry, will stop talking now. Loved the episode.
