good, fitting season finale and ending to the story of Spear and Fang—if a little pat at the very end.
Overall I think the story for Spear and Fang would be better off if you removed the entire Colossaeus 3-parter (which is ok but feels like a detour narratively) and the Charles Darwin one-off episode. Then this would be a 6 episode capper to their story.
I think the Colossaeus episodes also had the worst animation of the series—uncreative different empires, a lot of animating shortcuts—while Echoes of Eternity features some of the series best art when they return to Mira's homeland. Absolutely stunning backgrounds and nature.
Supposedly Tartakovsky and team's plan for season 3 (and beyond?) is to do more anthology storytelling like the Darwin episode, making one-off episodes or small arcs following stories centered around the themes laid out in the first two seasons. I'm not sure if that will interest me as much, but I'm excited to see it whenever it happens. And I'm glad they made these first two seasons of one bloody, exhilarating, uncompromising, surreal tale.
