Mercédès visits the graves of Fernand and Edmond in Marseilles. Albert returns to Paris, where Eugénie once again lives, to visit his abandoned family home and the grave of Franz. Albert reminisces about the past five years and the lessons he has learned. The episode ends as Albert rushes to the nearby church where he hears Eugénie playing.
