Paper Moon is the story of Addie and Moze, a hustling father-daughter team in the 1930's. Each episode saw Addie and Moze attempt a new get-rich scheme.
This short-lived sitcom was based on the 1973 movie of the same name. The movie had been a critical and commercial success. Earning accolades for the real life father/daughter acting duo of Ryan and Tatum O'Neal. The movie was an adaption of Joe David Brown's novel, Addie Pray.
The characters of Addie and Moze required careful casting, as they had to carry the bulk of the story and replace the popular O'Neals. Chris Connelly won the role of Moze (coincidentally, Connelly had played Ryan O'Neal's brother in Peyton Place). The part of Addie was given to a 12-year old Jodie Foster, who already had one sitcom role under her belt.
Unfortunately, the television version of the popular story proved to be unsuccessful. It lasted only 13 episodes before it was canceled.
