The Barański family lives in the suburbs. The mother totally devotes herself to the role of the lady of the house, which is the source of her constant frustration. The father supports the family, but it is not his opinion that is the most important thing at home.
Leszczyński's model of life is completely different. The mother is a divorced woman. From her first relationship she has a growing daughter, and from a marriage of a few-year-old son. She fulfills herself professionally, while her husband is struggling not only with raising children, but also with her own powerlessness in the matter of re-choosing a career path. He is unemployed.
Although the Barańskis adhere to conservative values, and Leszczynski seem to be progressive intellectuals, it turns out that they actually connect them more than divide them. Parents' good intentions often bring deplorable, though fun, results.
