ELEMENTARY stars Jonny Lee Miller as detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson in a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases. Following his fall from grace in Londonand a stint in rehab, eccentric Sherlock escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare – a sober companion, Dr. Watson. A successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago, Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, The Restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients. He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and he’s devised his own post-rehab regimen – resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City. Watson has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. But Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator. Sherlock’s police contact, Capt. Tobias “Toby” Gregson (Aidan Quinn), knows from previous experience working with Scotland Yard that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team. With the mischievous Sherlock Holmes now running free in New Yorksolving crimes, it’s simple deduction that he’s going to need someone to keep him grounded, and it’s elementary that it’s a job for Watson.

Best version of Sherlock and Wilson that ever was or will ever be, it's incredible how they kept up the quality from episode one right to the very end, no other detective drama ever came close to this (Personally I couldn't stand the other Sherlock, I wrote my opinion there years ago)) .. This is a rare gem that never got its fair share of recognition. I have watched over six hundred shows, Elementary is among my top 5 for sure. I really don't want to unfollow it, but sadly it's time..
Farewell to this amazing cast, writers and everyone involved in making it.
I've never heard about this show until today.
after having watched 4 seasons, i have to say, this is superior to the original sherlock. sherlock has about 6 quality episodes of an hour and a half each in the first 2 seasons.
this show on the other hand maintains a decent level of quality throughout with some stand out amazing episodes peppered in. and the best part is there's ZERO sexual tension or romantic interest between the leads which would have otherwise destroyed the show with drama. as it stands whatever drama there is, is in fact very well done by tying it into the criminal element of the show. you'll know when you watch it. very good show and considering sherlock is going down the toilet every season, i highly recommend you watch this show
when i had only watched the first season of sherlock and after that i'd tried to watch this, it felt inferior. now that sherlock is done with it's 4th season and i'm just starting this one again, this one is now feels much better in quality. sherlock really does not have it's shit together. moffat needs to stop relying on plot armor and "muh aspergers" and write better characters and decent stories. the drama is insufferable. hope this show is better in the later seasons too
soooooooo goooooddd i love it
This is the only Sherlock you should ever watch..
@Artifex I love him in Hobbit though xD
@CrimsonLips You're right, it's a matter of opinion. But my opinion remains the same. You're arguments are quite sound though, and I can see why you would be annoyed by Watson. He's a weird guy, but I just love Martin Freeman.
@Artifex It's a matter of opinion. I, for example, don't like the bbc Sherly... Always just one ep of every "season" is entertaining enough and omg that Watson annoys me as hell -.-
I cannot say that this is fabulous and all but in Elementary there are maybe 4-6 eps usually in the middle that bore me... 6 out of 24 ... it can be boring when you have 24 eps and 1 major mystery... but with 3 eps ? Mini movies right? Well, I'm in the middle right now and Idk if I ever will watch it more.
@miffy45 apart from bbc sherlock...? Granted, I haven't seen this show, but I can't imagine anything being better than bcc's sherlock. Bbc's sherlock is better than the movies.
God i really hate the joan/mycroft storyline going on at the moment, love the show, best sherlock adaptation i've seen (apart from the movies but thats because i have a huge soft spot for rdj). im loving it, i just really hate mycroft, in fact i've hated him in every sherlock adaptation, but i would like him to leave.
@emonquente Well put
I barely got over the hump of the middle of season 1 due to AA/NA/WGAFF and I'm getting tired of it again. This time I can articulate it a bit better -- and the return of Sherlock is why.
I want Sherlock Holmes to be a Sociopath and a BAMF. This show portrays him as weak, fallible, an addict, and someone willing to go along with an idea demonstrably counter to the character in every way. Whereas almost every other adaptation I've ever encountered ignored this facet, and I don't think it was even mentioned in the handful of the actual stories I've read ( his drug-doings that is).
I don't want Sherlock to be . . . this. House was my human version of Sherlock really, and that was why I liked it.
Anyway, so that's the one problem I have with the show. On the plus side -- I love how topical this show is, and a topical Sherlock Holmes show is always welcome.
Jonny Lee really does it ! Great acting !
2 more days! I'm so looking forward to this!
Definitely one of my new favourite shows. Season 1 was amazing, looking forward to the second season :)
Okay, the thing says 23 and 24 aired today? is that right?
Ah, nevermind -- yeah that is. two-parter actually got put together.
I like this.
this is quite good
@AHatFullOFSky Thanks!
