@rorypondicus People generally prefer Brotherhood, but I liked the original series slightly more. Both of them start off adapting largely the same material, and have different weaknesses at the start. Brotherhood has strange tonal shifts for about the first 17 episodes that I personally found off-putting, but the original series takes itself far too seriously (at least at the start). However, I'd definitely watch the first series first, since Brotherhood assumes you've watched the original series and have seen the level of detail they put into the original series' earlier episodes. I believe that it takes the original series 25ish episodes to cover what Brotherhood does in 15 and it helps to give characters more development. So yeah, I'd definitely say both are worth watching and involve very different tastes, but I'd watch the original series first, then go on to Brotherhood.
@Brysonial No I didn't! My friend who has watched both told me the first one isn't really worth it? That it makes stuff up past the manga - what did you think?
@rorypondicus LOL yeah I did. It's a pretty great show overall, really picks up at about episode 23ish. Did you ever watch the original FMA anime that came before Brotherhood?

@Brysonial It's def pretty far down my list cause I have a ton of other animes I want to start first but a lot of my friends think the same way so I'll give it a try at some point! Also I love that you mention the ladies, you know where my interests lie
@rorypondicus hm well so far it has really good characters and you might like the fact that three of the four main character are female characters, however, even though I've already watched 14 episodes and there are only 26 episodes, I have no clue where the actual plot is going ... so if you're looking for something with character development that's really weird then I'd say you might want to try it, but if you're looking for something with more of a coherent plot it's probably not for you. I think I'd recommend trying it though! If you do, watch at least a few episodes though, because I had no clue what the hell was going on in the first episode and it started to clear itself up a bit in the second and third
