Strike Back

Strike Back

A high-octane, globe-spanning thriller with storylines ripped from today's headlines, Strike Back, Cinemax's first scripted prime-time original drama series, focuses on two members of a top-secret intelligence agency known as Section 20: Michael Stonebridge, a British sergeant on the elite counter-terrorism team, and Damien Scott, a former U.S. Delta Force operative who was discharged on the eve of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Stonebridge, Scott and the rest of Section 20 criss-cross the globe on the trail of a deadly international terrorist named Latif, who is planning a major attack involving a cache of WMD that could have global repercussions.

Probably the worst action show I've ever seen.. Gun fights are total BS, storylines are weak and too farfetched, too much feminization, can't write Arabic correctly on street signs (how the fk can they even get it wrong in this day and age? use google at least) and starting with s2 cinemax turned it into a porno with guns.

I love this show. I miss it more than any other show when it's on hiatus. Production values are great, and every episode is fun. Ugh, so much love for this :)

@TiberiusKhan

Yes. The first season was a British show, then CineMax bought the American rights and probably paid more, so they got first airing rights. It is still more British than anything, but, they americanized it a bit.

Anyway, the new cool thing is to name seasons, like the Spartacus shows do. This site receives its data from TVRage and unfortunately they refuse to put seasons of these shows together. Expect that the now picked up, third season, will have its own listing too.

In short, yes two seasons, same show, different listings on here.

@ColeFrost So there are only two seasons of Strike back? The first with Armitage and the second with Winchester?

Caught up with Strike Back when the first season came out on Blu-Ray, just in time before the 2nd started. Awesome show. Halfway through the 2nd now and I am loving it.

@ColeFrost Yeah TVRage get confused when shows name their seasons, which I see nothing wrong with. But the editors over there can't take into their brains.

@jaaan

Idiots at TVRage that keep tweaking things. They can't understand things like all Spartacus shows are called Spartacus (Check the news articles all over) and should be under the same listing, or that Torchwood was always the same show (Look at the empty shows in the database).

A new Strike Back link was added to the database by someone there. Eventually these episodes will be pulled off this listing. If you saw the first season, you might as well follow the link and add it. It will probably replace the first season on this page, when the site catches up. The episodes no longer exist, under the listing, at TVRage.

@WedgeSparda @jmef @MatthiasCreyf @oranges @frantonepeli

New link to Strike Back, in case you missed it. That is first season only.

The second season brings a lot of changes:

- It is far more Americanized, but still British. Made to air in both.

- A whole new cast, though it connects to the first season. The new cast is solid, though I'm not a fan of the leader. She is annoying.

- The action went up a bit, which is saying a lot. More bloodshed, probably for Americans.

- Nudity went up a lot, no complaints (About the women). This is the Skinemax factor.

- The show now seems to be carrying a fuller storyline, without bouncing all around. Call it a more central story, but the first two episodes still went together like a movie. That hasn't changed.

There are other noticeable changes, but overall it still seems to be quality. I only watched the first two that have aired, but I like it so far.

This is a great show, if anyone is thinking about watching it. High end, plays out like a movie. Each pair of episodes represent one mission/story, so there were three missions/stories in the first season, each a different location.

The show follows John Porter, a fallen special forces soldier that ends up on a mission for vengeance/atonement. He is accused of letting most of his squad die on a mission in 2003 and was discharged and ran into the ground since then.

He seizes an opportunity to get back into the game, under a former squadmate, and he begins taking up missions for the government. He is a semi-shell of his former self, but also getting back to where he was.

Every two episodes are one of his missions, that connect various stories that you will see set up right from the beginning. It definitely appeals to a variety of tastes.

I recommend it. I was surprised at how much I liked it, but it sells itself. On to the second season, which looks very different.
