So glad tomorrow is Independence Day. So worn out from working and tomorrow I plan to finish S1 of Damages and possibly start Darker than Black.

I've had Damages on my to watchlist for a while I might watch that one. The electricity in my area is out right now, there was a really bad storm. So right now I'm just been watching Star Trek on Netflix. I still have to finish that anyways

Damages for sure. I can't believe I overlooked it for so long. It's an excellent mystery/thriller with a superb cast

Just got off work, so damn tired, but I want something to watch. Lately I've been rewatching random episodes of Seinfeld and Trailer Park Boys, but it would be nice to have something new. I plan to watch Darker than Black soon, but I would like something Live action, so if you know of anything I haven't seen, please tell me. I am thinking about watching Carnivale, but I hear it moves slowly, and I kind of want something with good pacing.

@Zelos @yoryan @Renegade412

Finished End of Evangelion. Sooo much better than the original "ending". Those last two episodes were really weak, considering they didn't even really explain anything that the story has shown us. EoE at least tried to resolve the show's storyline. Both were confusing as hell, I might have to read a synopsis of the show to really understand it.

I'm still probably going to watch the summer shows, just not much else. Although I still have a few days before I actually start work so I might watch Darker than black in the meantime. I am going to watch that Count of Monte Cristo anime, but it's a little weird, I'll go back to it later.

Congrats! I think you've seen enough tv shows as it is for the moment anyways :P

Congratulations! Personally I'm hoping that my work will agree to take me off nights and put me on days, so I might be in the same position in a couple of weeks. Real life has to catch up with up sooner or later, right?

wemy fellow tv watching friends, I might be taking a short break from television, or at least constant watching. I just got a new full time job that will occupy most of my time. I am kind of glad because i feel like i have become desensitized to watching television. Don't know how to explain it but after seeing so much TV, I don't feel like I can connect with them as much as I used to. I feel like a break might help that. Plus if I stop I will be able to rewatch stuff that I have forgotten.

Oh and definitely read aSoIaF. The show is great but the books just have so much more attention to detail and subtle character development that you could never really get in a show, and reading the books certainly won't diminish your interest in the show like some people think, especially seeing as how the two are starting to differentiate.

@likwidsolutions All I know of the anime is that it was in a cracked article talking about things the Japanese ruined. It was a terrible article because half of the things were animes and they all sounded pretty good (For example, Hellsing was on there and it's on my to-watch anime list down the road). So after seeing it I looked it up and it seems pretty good, and I'll be watching to see if you like it or not.

@Renegade412

Okay I looked it up. I'm almost positive the one I read was the English translation published by "Chapman and Hall", which Wikipedia says is the most common English translation. However, it also had this to say, "Penguin Classics published a new translation by Robin Buss in 1996. Buss' translation updated the language, is more accessible to modern readers, and reverted content that was modified in the 1846 translation because of Victorian English social restrictions (for example, references to Eugénie's lesbian traits and behavior) to Dumas' original version."

So knowing that information, I would honestly probably try and read the Penguin Classics version, as it would probably be easier to read, and would be closer the original because of the 1864's censorship. The 1864 version's language however does kind of make you feel more immersed, then again, I haven't read the newer one. I am probably going to reread it, using the Penguin version.

@Renegade412

I forget which version I read, I grabbed it from the library a few years ago, but it was excellent. Let me see if I can find the translator. But yeah I reccomend reading the book before watching it. Although I haven't seen it, I can't imagine anything topping the original. The book's intricacies between character interractions is so detailed, it's amazing. I'm planning on starting SoIaF soon, been meaning to do that. Now that S2 is over, it would probably be a good time to try and read the first 2 books at least.

And Revenge, yeah that was the show I was thinking of. I wonder if it's any good. A Count of Monte Cristo show has great potential to be great or terrible.

I have season 5 left to go.

I also want to read Count before watching Gankutsuou or Revenge (which I hear is inspired by it). Not sure which version to get from the Kindle store though.

@Renegade412 I thought you finished B5. But yeah, that's probably a good idea to finish those shows, especially B5, Farscape, The Sopranos, X Files. Don't really know about the other ones.

The main reason I decided to put DtB on the backburner is because The Count of Monte Cristo is just one of the most fantastic pieces of literature I've ever read, and if done correctly, it could be turned into an amazing anime or television show (in fact I think I heard something about a Monte Cristo show, but don't really remember much beyond that). I'll let you know how it goes because I'm going to start it today. I'm going to watch it an Evangelion simultaneously, since I've already seen Evangelion and remember a lot of it now.
