@Renegade412 Yeah it really depends on the series and the actors playing them. Some shows just work great with English actors, but like you said, with Steins;Gate, I can't imagine watching it dubbed.

@Renegade412 @yoryan @Zelos @Excitebike @Flashman anyone who knows anime.

I'm running out of good live action SciFi shows to watch, and since I'm starting to watch anime a little bit more, I figured I'd merge the two. You guys know of any great SciFi animes? I've seen a few of the more common ones, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, well you guys can see my list.

Glad to hear it. I can't imagine Ed and Al sounding any different.

Re: the dub v sub stuff, the last four series I've watched have all been subbed, even if there was a dub available. Also watching Berserked subbed though I have a dual audio version. It's working for me so far, and I can see situations were it worked better (Steins;Gate, for example, with all of Okabe's snippets of English and such). Unless there's a show with a well-known strong English dub, I'll probably be watching with subs from now on.

@Renegade412 Well normally I would have probably gone with subs, but since both FMA and FMA:B are on Netflix dubbed (they don't have the subbed version), then I am just watching it like that. It's not bad though, and I would probably have trouble listening to the original version now.

It's not that I hate dubs. It's just that I got used to watching subs because some shows get cut in the English versions (like DB and DBZ, which were the original two anime I watched), so I wanted to get all I could out of it.

But I think animes made in the past 10 years seem to have a lot better dubbed versions than animes that came before. It seems like distributors for English speaking countries actually care about having good voice actors. Maybe the market has changed, and more people watch anime in English speaking countries than before.

Should've asked this a lot sooner: are you watching FMA dubbed or subbed? I know you're a sub guy, but I'm really hoping the answer is dubbed, because I absolutely love the dub and wouldn't want to watch any other version.

@Renegade412 I definitely didn't, maybe I accidentally checked off that I watched that show. Thanks for letting me know.

EDIT: Actually I haven't checked off the episodes. I am only following the show. There are about 30 shows I am probably following that I haven't seen yet. I just follow them if I plan to watch them down the road.

@likwidsolutions According to this site, you watched Full Metal Panic. Which is, if I'm not mistaken, an entirely different show.

@yoryan Well "The Cage" was created first and is the original pilot, but "The Man Trap" is the real first episode. The Cage had Christopher Pike as captain of the Enterprise, Kirk wasn't present. The pilot wasn't picked up, but obviously it had a second chance.

Personally I'd start with The Next Generation, then go back to TOS once you have an appreciation of the ST universe. Honestly, TOs is a little dated and hard to get into. I watched S1, got tired of it and didn't watch the rest of ST until just past 4 or 5 months. I have goe back to TOS though and it's easier to watch when you already enjoy the franchise.

Hey quick question. I might start watching Star Trek soon. What episode do I start with, The Cage or The Man Trap?

@Flashman Good to hear. They usually sell out really quickly when they tour, glad I got some tickets, and even more glad I don't have to travel out of state, which is why I haven't gone in the past, it's too far a drive.

@likwidsolutions I saw them back in 2003, they're mindblowingly good live.

This has nothing to do with Television but I'm so excited I wanted to announce it on my profile...I am seeing Radiohead on June 6th! Everytime they come to the states they either sell out really quickly or they only play one big festival that costs a few hundered bucks to attend. But they finally come to Ohio.

I think I'm going to take a long break from watching TV shows soon. I've been marathoning shows for a long while now. Once this season is over, I will watch Summer shows and still catch up with the shows I watch next fall, but no more marathoning after SG-1 (and possibly the rest of SG).

I feel like I've become desensitized to what I'm viewing, and it just doesn't feel as good to watch my shows as it used to. I want to be excited to see my shows again, I miss that.
