Some time in the next month I will be removing the Facebook and Twitter login options from our site. If you are using these login options currently but no longer remember your password, you can use the "Reset Password" feature.

Reason for removing these

These login methods were plagued with bugs due to their constantly changing APIs. They add a lot of development overhead to maintain them. Facebook in particular is a major annoyance with their policy changing and forcing me to change layout of our app. They also constantly randomly block things without warning.

Going forward, we will only support logging in with your username/email and password. In the future, I may reconsider adding social logins again.

I've been thinking about our show statuses. Our UI currently shows these ones: Returning series, New series, Final season, On the bubble, On hiatus, Ended, Pilot rejected, In development, Pilot ordered, Never aired, Unknown. Many of these are badly out of date and I'm working on the importer to revamp all of them in a simplified list of categories.

I want to simplify these a lot! Thinking about our shows, pretty much the majority goes through these six stages:

• Future Show: It's being developed, nobody knows when it will air exactly. Sometimes we know the year
• Upcoming Show: The pilot episode release date is known. Its about to be released soon
• New Show: We are currently in the first season of this show, the season may not have ended yet
• Returning Show: Season 2 has been announced or we are already further into the show. This is the stable state of a running show.
• Final Season: We are in the last season, the show is going to end.
• Ended: The show has ended

These stages make sense for shows like Breaking Bad, Stargate SG-1, etc. Where there is a nice ending to the story.

The example of The Expanse

The Expanse is a weird one, SyFy started the show, and then they cancelled it after 3 seasons. At this point it was considered Ended, but Amazon Prime bought the show and it then turned back into Returning Show/Running Show.

These are also interesting. They go from New Show directly to Ended. Do they ever go through Final Season? How would you want to see this in the UI?

We are closing in on to getting our first beta version of our API out in the open.

Before we release the beast to the public we like to have a closed beta. We do this closed beta test to discuss endpoint ideas that developers would like, get feedback of the existing endpoints and general beta testing. This will be a very community driven development process to make sure our API meets all the possible needs to make super duper awesome integrations.

If you like to participate in the API closed beta, send an email to info@followmy.tv with the following information:

• Your followmy.tv username
• Your github.com profile if you have one
• How many people will be working on the integration (only you are a team of developers)
• Previous projects that you have developed that use an API
• A description of the plugin / app / integration you would use the API for
• The programming language that you will use
• The platform (ex: ios, android, web, desktop)
• If you are willing to contribute to the official followmy.tv API SDK libraries (specify the programming languages)
• Your contact e-mail address
• Your country / timezone (to make communication a bit smoother)

In this first stage we will be collecting applications for our beta programme. Once we feel confident that we can release the beta version of the API we will start sending e-mails to the applications to invite them to join the beta programme.

Well, it took a while but we have finally updated followmy.tv to a new version.

Here’s a list of primary changes:

• You asked for it, you can now upload your avatar! Gravatar is still primarily used.
• You can now sort the time wasted page on your profile.
• Fill in your bio on your profile page and show the world who you are.
• A streamlined process of following tv shows and setting your episode progress.
• This little blog system
• You can now decide by which day to start the week in your calendar.
• Several bug-fixes and enhancements.
• You can now use a limited set of BB code in comments.
