Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down lanterns and candles are lit. Life is slower and sweeter. Or is it? On the fringes of small farming communities, danger lurks. And a young woman's life is dramatically changed when a local militia arrives and kills her father, who mysteriously - and unbeknownst to her - had something to do with the blackout. This brutal encounter sets her and two unlikely companions off on a daring coming-of-age journey to find answers about the past in the hopes of reclaiming the future.

@Zantanimus Kripke from Supernatural + J.J Abrams = Revolution = Pure gold. Great show so far for me.
@killmotion Was wondering why it didn't air. Thanks for the info.
@Zantanimus not anymore, man. i've been shitting on nbc for so long, but I think (and hope, for god's sake) that they've found their hit in Hannibal.
The episode intended to air tonight will be preempted for coverage on the bombing that happened in Boston this afternoon.
Revolution tries way too hard to be a drama and fails at every fundamental level, which snowballs into a hilarious and often overbearing sense of self. The story is just a bunch of elements drawn from Star Wars, Kripke's other work, and a generic "Hero With A Thousand Faces" plot structure.
That being said, Kripke has successfully produced NBC's best comedy since Community.
@Jakurdo I agree :-) Also the crave for drama is pretty annoying sometimes. I'll keep watching tough. The idea of this show was and still is pretty awesome. To bad they didn't do more with it.

@az25 The Walking Dead really made a solid effort in the third season and I'd rate it among my favorite shows of the moment. The story just came back alive. I wouldn't really say the story is absurd at all, it's projected quite realistic and just shows people grouping together, trying to stay alive.
Now for this show, a group of random people on a quest to save the brother of one of them, which most of them don't even know. The hallucinating, the pendants and so on. It's just crappy story-writing. The original idea of this show was promising, but you have to admit they've totally destroyed it with cliches/impossibilities and choices normal people just wouldn't make in these situations.
@az25 There is no doubt that I initially started watching this show because of its story premise. But the story right now, with the pendants and what not (actually, the whole mystery has been boiled down to just those lame pendants basically), is just boring.
Honestly, I only keep watching because I enjoy how bad this is and I want to see how much of a trainwreck they can make out of this show. And with the hallucinations and dreamsequences in the latest episode (both, with unrelated causes and handled laughably poor), the writers are at least proving that they know how to write horrible cliched television.
@az25 I do think that you are right and I feel quite bad for not being able to watch more than two episodes (I don't think I even finished the second one.) Because I really think that the idea has potential, it is interesting, if it wasn't filled with (most of the time and character-based) bad acting and pathos. I fucking hate the pathos.
@Saragis007 Yeah, that's fine, but it's not okay to say the story is just bullshit. Not if you watch The Walking Dead. Or Doctor Who. You can say that both of those shows week-to-week episodes are a little (or ridiculously) absurd, but the actors chemistry and understanding of their character(s) is what makes these shows really good.
The characters (especially Charlie) are failing at making this world come to life, but the grand idea for the story itself is actually pretty intriguing.
It's why we're all still hanging on by a thread, isn't it?
Also, I have one more observation. I don't know if it was intended or not (seriously doubt it as it airs at 10:00 pm here on the Eastern Seaboard), but this seems like a show directed at young males, specifically pre-middle school to early high school guys, age 10-15 or so.
And we also can't deny the numbers. Mediocre product or not, people are watching and it wouldn't surprise me if it were picked up for a second season. Although we will have to wait for that news most likely, as apparently after next week's episode, they will be taking a 4 month hiatus to catch up on post-production. Source
Ok I am not watching this anymore.. Annoying characters, cliches all around, story is just bullshit..
@goodplastic @aus3ys He's just trolling ;)
@aus3ys Oh! Game Of Thrones :)!
@aus3ys Fringe, Dexter, Homeland...
@MarinaB Nailed it! Well said!
@goodplastic Share some, which one is better?!
@ModernDayFire, exactly. The problem is that the plot is pretty interesting. Everyone wants to know what would be like live in a post-apocalyptic world without electrical energy. But the characters don't seem to fit in. If you live in a world without law and totally dangerous, you change your personality to save your ass, you care less with people you don't know, you're defensive.
Charlie was a child when that normal world ended, I thought she would be stronger, badass, completely about family and survival, because she grew up in a dangerous situation. But she cries a lot and judges people who had killed to survive, who did things they're not proud of. She's always putting herself in trouble, saying out loud how she can take care of herself, but at the end of the day needs her uncle to save her. It's a shame.
The other characters are just cliché. They have personalities and a life history I can find in any other show (btw, with this FB thing, they remind me of Lost, but Lost was "original"). We saw at least three characters who were too weak before the blackout and now two of them are militia, the other is a kind of Hurley, trying to conquer the public with charisma. Miles is the old kind of bad boy with golden heart who made wrong choices in life, now is sorry, but is pushing people away BUT eventually will let them into his heart.
ANYWAY... still watching because I BELIVE it can get better. I believe the characters can have a better dynamics and the show can lead them forward.
just dropped this show... the girl is so annoying... really difficult to stand this. they try to make her as some saint, by her look, by her actions, but they did too good job and they have walked the line...
