Just watched it. Liked it a lot. Tbh all prison series are damn good "Prison Break" "oZ" "Bad Girls" etc.
hahaha i love this show
@emonquente I thought it was quite predictable.. but it /was/ based after a book which was a biography of the Piper character, so either she had a very typical time, or.. Idk.
Brief Internet searches, I'm surprised to find, despite my negative feelings to a lot of the stuff, a lot of the stuff getting the most criticism is stuff I don't quit get - - just as a for instance, saying the shoe didn't change Piper.
I've been in solitary. Her response in the room, and her immediate defiance at release, and then right back to the status quo? That's pretty much an exact picture of how most people respond to that (that I've seen). My problem was that, in trying to be realistic, they backed themselves into a corner. They have a situation where only one real outcome exists - shit don't change, bad crop happens every day, but honestly? 90% of it comes down to sitting around, waiting to either die, or get out, and not a whole lot happens.
Best argument I can give for my response is to just point you at Dostoeyvsky's house of the dead. That was a brilliant novel.
Maybe it's just the life I've lead, but literally everything in this show is painfully predictable. I mean, points for seeming "were going to call this realistic even though half the fear that makes us believe it in fiction is the very stuff that makes it so very not like real life " _ which is a whole nother beast. . .
This show isn't bad, but I find myself only giving a shot about the romance of Alex and Piper - - which isn't what the show is about, but then again the shows biggest problem stems from the (I think) failed non-traditional story framework. Which, for the record, I think fails because it's results are so run of the mill and there's just no excuse.
But that's all the art-lover in me annoyed by the (I feel) bad attempts to elevate this show to high art. Tho I freely admit those attempts may not even exist as such, or I may be alone in my opinion.
So, all that said, as pure emotional junk food TV? Definitely a great show, I really enjoyed it as that. Just, Only as that.
Ugh, Alex is so annoying
Pretty cool show :)
